The devlink port_split test has limited applicability.
NICs (as opposed to switches) require at least a re-probe
to apply the split configuration.
On top of that the test is not compatible with our driver env,
it just splits all ports on the system, not only what NETIF
points at.
Long term we may want to add some indication in devlink whether
the port splitting is runtime (cmode of sorts), and fix the
test to follow driver env. But since no (known) NIC driver can
support runtime anyway let's just hide the test from the selftest
framework by moving it to extra files.
Having this test randomly break unrelated NICs within the DUT
makes people implement allow-lists for ksft, which then means
their setups don't run new tests. It's very useful during test
review to see whether the test works across all the runners.

Some devices refresh the statistics exposed via ethtool only
periodically, every stats-block-usecs (as reported by ethtool -c).
ethtool_std_stats and ethtool_rmon sample the counters immediately
after generating traffic, so on such devices they can read stale
values and fail with a delta short of the packets just sent.
Add a hw_stats_settle() helper which sleeps for 1.25x the configured
stats-block-usecs (defaulting to 20ms when the device reports no, or
a zero, period). Use it for ethtool std stats and RMON.
The 1.25x/20msec heuristic matches what the Python tests do.

HDS mode has confusing semantics. On GET kernel reports
effective mode. On SET kernel expects explicit config.
Effective mode on GET means that we know the current
state, but we don't know if it's a driver default
or user setting. This matter because driver default
can change automatically when e.g. XDP is attached.
Explicit user setting must not be lost.
With that in mind, we can't restore the HDS setting
like we restore other NIC config. We should always
reset to default ("unknown").
This fixes an issue with tests running after the devmem
test not being able to attach XDP, e.g.

The config fragment already sets CONFIG_UDMABUF=y, but kconfig silently
drops it. UDMABUF/NET_DEVMEM both depend on DMA_SHARED_BUFFER, which we
can't enable directly, so we need to enable a config that selects it. We
use SYNC_FILE for that purpose here.

Write permissions on the /dev/udmabuf device file are not required to
issue ioctls and allocate udmabufs. Applications should be opening this
file as O_RDONLY. The BPF dmabuf_iter selftest already does this. [1]
Users are pointing to these selftests as examples of how use udmabuf,
and encountering permission errors on systems where write permissions
are not available on /dev/udmabuf. Apply the principle of least
privilege to selftests which use udmabuf by removing the write access

reduce flakes
Similar to commit 690043b95c18 ("selftests: drv-net: rss: Add

retry mechanism for test_rss_context_overlap. This gives the test
more attempts to distribute the flow evenly, as the chance of
flow skewing to one queue is high.
Example failures:
# Check failed 5288 < 7000 traffic on main context (1/2): [2727, 2561, 8961, 6648]

query_nic_features() detects which offloads depend on tx-gso-partial
by enabling everything, turning tx-gso-partial off, and seeing which
active features drop out. Enabling all hw features is dangerous:
we may end up enabling rx-fcs and loopback for example. For the
ice driver we end up getting into problems with feature dependencies
so the cleanup isn't successful either, and the test exits with
rx-fcs and loopback enabled.
Scope the feature probing just to segmentation bits.

Add test_iou_zcrx_large_buf, which runs iou-zcrx with rx_buf_len >
page size (-x 2) through a netkit-leased RX queue. The netkit ifindex
is opaque to io_uring, but rx_page_size is honoured by the leased
physical qops via netif_mp_open_rxq()'s lease redirect.
Originally, I also added a BIG TCP variant on top, but dropped it
here as fbnic (and the QEMU fbnic model) has no BIG TCP support
to exercise it as this point.
Tested against the QEMU fbnic emulation. The new test exercises
the > page rx_buf_len path only when the leased NIC advertises
QCFG_RX_PAGE_SIZE; otherwise it skips.
For fbnic, I used Bjorn's patches locally [0]:

Add nk_devmem.py with four tests for TCP devmem through a netkit device.
These tests are just duplicates of the original devmem tests, with some
adjusted parameters such as telling ncdevmem to avoid device setup
(since it only has access to netkit, not a phys device).
Each test uses NetDrvContEnv with primary_rx_redirect=True to set up the
BPF redirect program on the primary netkit interface, then calls a
shared run_*() helper which probes for devmem support and configures
the NIC (HDS, RSS, queue lease) before driving the test. NIC state is
restored per-test via defer() callbacks registered inside the helper.

When sending from a namespace that has access to a netkit device with a
leased queue, the nk primary in the host namespace needs to redirect its
RX to the physical device. This patch adds that redirection bpf program
and teaches the harness to install it.
Add primary_rx_redirect=False parameter to NetDrvContEnv.__init__().
When enabled, _attach_primary_rx_redirect_bpf() attaches a new BPF TC
program (nk_primary_rx_redirect.bpf.c) to the primary (host-side) netkit
interface. The program redirects non-ICMPv6 IPv6 packets to the physical
NIC via bpf_redirect_neigh(), with the physical ifindex configured via
the .bss map. ICMPv6 is left on the host's netkit primary so IPv6
neighbor discovery still work locally.
Extract _find_bss_map_id() from _attach_bpf() into a reusable helper so
other BPF attachment methods can use it.

Adding netkit-based devmem tests is a straight-forward copy of devmem
test commands plus some args for the nk cases, so this patch breaks out
these command builders into helpers used by both.
Though we tried to avoid libraries to avoid increasing the barrier of
entry/complexity (see selftests/drivers/net/README.md, section "Avoid
libraries and frameworks"), factoring out these functions seemed like
the lesser of two evils in this case of using the same commands, just
with slightly different args per environment.
I experimented with just having all of the tests in the same file to
avoid having helpers in a library file, but because ksft_run() is
limited to a single call per file, and the new tests will require
different environments (NetDrvContEnv/NetDrvEpEnv), it would have been
necessary to have each test set up its own environment instead of
sharing one for the entire ksft_run() run. This came at the cost of
ballooning the test time (from under 5s to 30s on my test system), so to
strike a balance these tests were placed in separate files so they could
keep a shared environment across a single ksft_run() run shared across
all tests using the same env type (introduced in subsequent patches).
The helpers work transparently with both plain and netkit environments
by inspecting cfg for netkit-specific attributes (netns, nk_queue,
etc...).

Add a -n (skip_config) flag that causes ncdevmem to skip NIC
configuration when operating as an RX server. When -n is passed,
ncdevmem skips configuring header split, RSS, and flow steering, as well
as their teardown on exit.
This allows ksft tests to pre-configure the NIC in the host namespace
before launching ncdevmem in the guest namespace. This is needed for
netkit devmem tests where the test harness namespace has direct access
to the NIC and the ncdevmem namespace does not.

There are VXLAN tests and IPsec tests, but there is no test that
combines the two protocols and exercises the tunnel-over-ipsec code
paths. Fix that by adding a traffic test with VXLAN and IPsec using
crypto offload. This is runnable on HW which supports ESP offload (so no
nsim unfortunately).
Traffic is done with iperf3 and the test validates that there are no
packet drops and iperf3 can get to at least 100 Mbps (a very
conservative value on today's crypto offload HW, as it can typically
reach multi-Gbps rates).
Ran right now, the test fails due to a recently exposed bug in xfrm,
which will be fixed in the next patch:

As pointed out in 3d2c3d2eea9a ("selftests: net: py: explicitly forbid
multiple ksft_run() calls"), ksft_run() cannot be called multiple times.
Move the netdevsim-based queue lease tests to selftests/net/ so that
each file has exactly one ksft_run() call.
The HW tests (io_uring ZC RX, queue attrs, XDP with MP, destroy) remain
in selftests/drivers/net/hw/.

Extend the ntuple flow steering test to cover dst-ip, src-port, and
dst-port fields. The test supports arbitrary combinations of the fields,
for now we test src_ip/dst_ip, and src_ip/dst_ip/src_port/dst_port.
The tests currently match full fields, but we can consider adding
support for masked fields in the future.

Add a test for ethtool NFC (ntuple) flow steering rules. The test
creates an ntuple rule matching on various flow fields and verifies
that traffic is steered to the correct queue.
The test forces all traffic to queue 0 via the indirection table,
then installs an ntuple rule to steer select traffic to a specific
queue. The test then verifies the expected number of packets is received
on the queue.
This test has variants for TCP/UDP over IPv4/IPv6, with rules matching
the source IP. Additional match fields will be added in the next commit.

Add a new selftest - ethtool_std_stats.sh - which validates the
eth-ctrl, eth-mac and pause standard statistics exported by an
interface. Collision related eth-mac counters as well as the error ones
will be checked against zero since that is the most likely correct
scenario.
The central part of this patch is the traffic_test() function which
gathers the 'before' counter values, sends a batch of traffic and then
interrogates again the same counters in order to determine if the delta
is on target. The function receives an array through which the caller
can request what counters to be interrogated and, for each of them, what
is their target delta value.
The output from this selftest looks as follows on a LX2160ARDB board:

interface
This patch finalizes the transition to work with a single local
interface for the ethtool_rmon.sh test. Each 'ip link' and 'ethtool'
command used by the test is annotated with the necessary run_on in
order to be executed on the necessary target system, be it local, in
another network namespace or through ssh.
Since we need NETIF up and running also for control traffic, we now
expect that the interfaces are up and running and do not touch bring
them up or down at the end of the test. This is also documented in the
drivers/net/README.rst.
The ethtool_rmon.sh script can still be used in the older fashion by
passing two interfaces as command line arguments, the only restriction
is that those interfaces need to be already up.
$ DRIVER_TEST_CONFORMANT=no ./ethtool_rmon.sh eth0 eth1
As part of the kselftest infrastructure, this test can be run in the

The ethtool_rmon.sh script checks that the number of packets sent /
received during a test matches the expected value with a 1% tolerance.
Since in the next patches this test will gain the capability to also be
run on systems with a single interface where the traffic generator is
accesible through ssh, use the UINT32_MAX as the upper limit. This is
necessary since the same interface will be used also for control traffic
(the ssh commands) as well as the mausezahn generated one.

The selftests in drivers/net are slowly transitioning to being able to
be used on systems with a single network interface. The first step for the
ethtool_rmon.sh test is to only validate that the rmon counters are
properly exported on the first interface supplied as an argument.
Remove the rmon_histogram calls which intend to test also the rmon
counters on the 2nd interface. This also removes the need for the remote
system, which should be used only to inject traffic, to also support
rmon counters.

This test loads xdp_metadata.bpf which calls bpf_xdp_metadata_rx_hash() on
incoming packets. The metadata from that packet is then sent to a BPF
map for validation. It borrows structure from xdp.py, reusing common
functions.
The test checks the device's xdp-rx-metadata-features via netlink
before running and skips on devices that do not advertise hash support.
This can be run on veth devices as well as real hardware.
The test is fairly simple and just verifies that a TCP or UDP packet can be
identified as an L4 flow. This minimal test also passes if run on a veth
device.

Test accuracy of GRO stats. We want to cover two potentially tricky
cases:
- single segment GRO
- packets which were eligible but didn't get GRO'd
The first case is trivial, teach gro.c to send one packet, and check
GRO stats didn't move.
Second case requires gro.c to send a lot of flows expecting the NIC
to run out of GRO flow capacity.
To avoid system traffic noise we steer the packets to a dedicated
queue and operate on qstat.
