Compare the sampled clock values instead of their addresses. Comparing addresses leaves the samples unsorted, preventing the code from discarding the minimum and maximum samples. 7 daysdrm/i915/gt: use correct selftest config symbolPengpeng Hou
intel_engine_user.c checks CONFIG_DRM_I915_SELFTESTS before running the engine UABI isolation check. Kconfig defines DRM_I915_SELFTEST, without the trailing "S", and the rest of i915 uses CONFIG_DRM_I915_SELFTEST. Because CONFIG_DRM_I915_SELFTESTS is not backed by any Kconfig symbol, the IS_ENABLED() test is always false. Use the existing selftest symbol so the debug/selftest guarded path can be reached when selftests are enabled. This is a source-level fix. It does not claim dynamic hardware reproduction; the evidence is the Kconfig definition and the inconsistent guard in intel_engine_user.c. 2026-07-06drm/i915/gt: Fix NULL deref on sched_engine alloc failureJoonas Lahtinen
Avoid using intel_context_put() before intel_context_init() in execlists_create_virtual() as the kref_put() inside would lead to NULL deref on the IOCTL path when sched_engine allocation fails. Discovered using AI-assisted static analysis confirmed by Intel Product Security. 2026-05-07drm/i915: skip __i915_request_skip() for already signaled requestsSebastian Brzezinka
After a GPU reset the HWSP is zeroed, so previously completed requests appear incomplete. If such a request is picked up during reset_rewind() and marked guilty, i915_request_set_error_once() returns early (fence already signaled), leaving fence.error without a fatal error code. 2026-04-16drm/i915/reset: Disable execlist per-engine reset for display reset testsVille Syrjälä
The display reset only happens from the full reset path. We must therefore force execlist submission to always take the full reset path and not the per-engine reset path. Currently the display reset tests are in fact not testing display resets at all on platforms using execlist submission. Ring submission and GuC submission always take the full path anyway. Also disable the engine reset inside __intel_gt_set_wedged() so that we simulate the intel_gt_gpu_reset_clobbers_display() behavior as closely as possible also when taking the full wedge path. The slight race between the separate intel_display_reset_test() calls in the overall reset path is harmless. kms_busy will keep the modparam fixed during the test, and even if someone were to fiddle with the modparam manually nothing bad should happen if the calls return different values. 2026-04-16drm/i915/reset: Move pending_fb_pin handling to i915Ville Syrjälä
Only i915 uses the pending_fb_pin counter to potentially whack the GPU harder if the display gets nuked during a GPU reset. Move the atomic counter into the i915 specific bits of code, so that we don't need to worry about on the display side. For some reason the overlay code kept the pending_fb_pin counter elevated for longer than just for the pin, but from now on it'll just cover the actual pinning part. A use-after-free / refcount underflow is possible when the heartbeat worker and intel_engine_park_heartbeat() race to release the same engine->heartbeat.systole request. The heartbeat worker reads engine->heartbeat.systole and calls i915_request_put() on it when the request is complete, but clears the pointer in a separate, non-atomic step. Concurrently, a request retirement on another CPU can drop the engine wakeref to zero, triggering __engine_park() -> intel_engine_park_heartbeat(). 2026-03-05drm/i915: replace use of system_unbound_wq with system_dfl_wqMarco Crivellari
Currently if a user enqueue a work item using schedule_delayed_work() the used wq is "system_wq" (per-cpu wq) while queue_delayed_work() use WORK_CPU_UNBOUND (used when a cpu is not specified). The same applies to schedule_work() that is using system_wq and queue_work(), that makes use again of WORK_CPU_UNBOUND. This lack of consistency cannot be addressed without refactoring the API. system_unbound_wq should be the default workqueue so as not to enforce locality constraints for random work whenever it's not required. This patch continues the effort to refactor worqueue APIs, which has begun with the change introducing new workqueues: commit 128ea9f6ccfb ("workqueue: Add system_percpu_wq and system_dfl_wq") The old system_unbound_wq will be kept for a few release cycles. This is more in line with the existing REG_FIELD_PREP() etc. helpers, and using "field" instead of "bit" is more accurate for the functionality. This converts some of the visually simpler cases that have been split over multiple lines. I only did the ones that are easy to verify the resulting diff by having just that final GFP_KERNEL argument on the next line. Somebody should probably do a proper coccinelle script for this, but for me the trivial script actually resulted in an assertion failure in the middle of the script. I probably had made it a bit _too_ trivial. So after fighting that far a while I decided to just do some of the syntactically simpler cases with variations of the previous 'sed' scripts. Note that due to the extreme simplicity of the scripting, any slightly more complex cases spread over multiple lines would not be triggered: they definitely exist, but this covers the vast bulk of the cases, and the resulting diff is also then easier to check automatically. This is the result of running the Coccinelle script from scripts/coccinelle/api/kmalloc_objs.cocci. The script is designed to avoid scalar types (which need careful case-by-case checking), and instead replace kmalloc-family calls that allocate struct or union object instances: Single allocations: kmalloc(sizeof(TYPE), ...) are replaced with: kmalloc_obj(TYPE, ...) Array allocations: kmalloc_array(COUNT, sizeof(TYPE), ...) are replaced with: kmalloc_objs(TYPE, COUNT, ...) Flex array allocations: kmalloc(struct_size(PTR, FAM, COUNT), ...) are replaced with: kmalloc_flex(*PTR, FAM, COUNT, ...) This series decouples kernel.h with some explicit and implicit dependencies; also, moves tracing functionality to a new independent header. This patch (of 6): The macro was introduced in 1994, v1.0.4, for stacks protection. Since that, people found better ways to protect stacks, and now the macro is only used by i915 selftests. CONFIG_RANDSTRUCT may reorder structure fields, which makes positional initializers unsafe. The i915 GT debugfs tables were using positional initializers for `struct intel_gt_debugfs_file`, and on configs where the layout differs (e.g., presence/absence of the `.eval` callback), this can lead to fields being initialized incorrectly and trigger randstruct warnings such as: ``` drivers/gpu/drm/i915/gt/intel_gt_debugfs.c:75:51: note: randstruct: casting between randomized structure pointer types (constructor) ``` Switch all the GT debugfs file arrays to designated initializers. This binds each value to the intended member regardless of structure reordering or optional members and removes the warning while preserving the intended initialization. Also drops the '&' from intel_eval_slpc_support so .eval receives the function pointer directly. No functional change, only initialization style is updated. Switch error injection testing from i915_inject_probe_failure to ALLOW_ERROR_INJECTION. Here taken out calls to i915_inject_probe_failure and changed to use ALLOW_ERROR_INJECTION for the same functions. Below functions are dropped from testing since I couldn't hit those at module bind time, testing these would just fail the tests.
