2026-08-06drm/amd/display: Fix CRC engine 1 enable/disable on DCN3.1.2+Wayne Lin
[Why] Multi-ROI CRC uses OTG_CRC1_EN for the second engine, but the driver only toggled OTG_CRC_EN and cleared the whole OTG_CRC_CNTL register on disable. [How] Program engine 1 via OTG_CRC1_EN where supported, disable each engine independently by crc_eng_inst, and add the missing mask on relevant DCN ASICs. 2026-08-06drm/amd/display: Add missing OTG_CRC1_SELECT mask for DCN3.2Wayne Lin
[Why] Configuring CRC engine 1 via optc35_configure_crc() triggers ASSERT(mask != 0) in dc_helper.c when programming OTG_CRC1_SELECT. The DCN3.2 OPTC mask list inherited from dcn32 is missing this field, so ROI[1] CRC cannot be enabled in DisplayCRC mode on DCN3.5/3.51. [How] Add OTG_CRC1_SELECT to OPTC_COMMON_MASK_SH_LIST_DCN3_2, matching the existing dcn10 definition so REG_UPDATE can program CRC engine 1. 2026-05-19drm/amd/display: Enable additional wait for pipe pending checksAric Cyr
[why] In cases where there are two FULL updates within the same display frame, it's possible for some blocks to be programmed a second time without having been latched completely from the first programming. DCN 3.5 and up already work around this with additional validation checks for frame count and defer as needed via fsleep. 2026-05-05drm/amd/display: Fix type mismatches using guards and explicit castsGaghik Khachatrian
[Why] Address signed/unsigned comparison warnings across dc paths to keep builds warning-clean and improve type safety at comparison boundaries. Most warnings came from signed loop/index temporaries compared against unsigned counters and table sizes, plus a smaller number of mixed signed/unsigned clock, bandwidth, and geometry comparisons. [How] Aligned iterator and temporary variable types with the semantic type of the compared bounds. Used unsigned indices for loops bounded by unsigned counters and table sizes, while retaining signed types where values are semantically signed or participate in arithmetic that may legitimately go negative. Where mixed signed/unsigned comparisons are intentional, applied explicit boundary casts or guarded comparisons instead of broad type changes. No functional behavior changes are intended; this is a warning-resolution and type-alignment cleanup. 2026-04-17drm/amd/display: Fix implicit narrowing conversion warningsGaghik Khachatrian
[Why] Multiple display source files contain implicit narrowing conversions when assigning wider integer types (int, uint32_t) to narrower fields (uint8_t, uint16_t) at hardware register, protocol, and storage boundaries. These conversions are intentional but undocumented, and accompanying runtime assertions add noise without providing compile-time safety. [How] Add explicit casts at all intentional narrowing boundaries across display source files. Use narrower loop variable types where loop bounds guarantee safe range. Remove runtime assertions paired with narrowing casts, inline single-use intermediate variables, and revert block scopes and braces introduced solely to contain those assertions. 2026-02-03drm/amd/display: Add CRC 32-bit mode support for DCN3.6+Chenyu Chen
[Why] DCN 3.6+ hardware supports CRC-32 polynomial in addition to the legacy CRC-16. Enable 32-bit CRC values per color component for improvement of precision in display validation. [How] When userspace sets crc_poly_mode (0=CRC-16, 1=CRC-32) via the debugfs interface, the value is stored in dm_irq_params.crc_poly_mode. When CRC source configuration triggers amdgpu_dm_crtc_configure_crc_source(), crc_poly_mode is retrieved from dm_irq_params and passed to dc_stream_configure_crc(). In the DC layer, dc_stream_configure_crc() sets crc_poly_mode into the crc_params structure and passes it to optc35_configure_crc(). If the hardware supports the OTG_CRC_POLY_SEL register, the register is programmed to select CRC-16 or CRC-32 polynomial. When reading CRC values, optc35_get_crc() checks whether CRC32 register masks are available. If present, it reads 32-bit CRC values from OTG_CRC0/1_DATA_R32/G32/B32 registers; otherwise, it falls back to reading 16-bit CRC values from legacy OTG_CRC0/1_DATA_RG/B registers. 2025-04-07drm/amd/display: wait for updates to latch before lockingAusef Yousof
[why&how] It is possible for an update to acquire otg lock and begin programming while the previous update has not completed and its values have not latched. The correct way to go about this is to wait until the vupdate pulses so we can be sure that previous updates have latched and we can continue with the current update pipe programming, otherwise during consecutive full updates we will have corruption flash on the screen. The corruption flash occurs specifically on configs that require odm combine, and its local to a specific pipe (will not flash across whole screen). [Why] The values calculated in optc1_get_otg_active_size are assigned to the wrong output parameters, vertical blank is being used for horizontal size and vice versa. This results in DPG test pattern looking wrong during hardware init, as the DPG dimensions get assigned from this output, and potentially other issues. 2024-05-17drm/amdgpu/display: Update kdoc for 'optc35_set_odm_combine'Srinivasan Shanmugam
The parameters segment_width and last_segment_width are used to control the configuration of the Output Plane Processor (OPP), specifically the width of each segment that the display is divided into and the width of the last segment Fixes the below with gcc W=1: drivers/gpu/drm/amd/amdgpu/../display/dc/optc/dcn35/dcn35_optc.c:59: warning: Function parameter or struct member 'segment_width' not described in 'optc35_set_odm_combine' drivers/gpu/drm/amd/amdgpu/../display/dc/optc/dcn35/dcn35_optc.c:59: warning: Function parameter or struct member 'last_segment_width' not described in 'optc35_set_odm_combine' drivers/gpu/drm/amd/amdgpu/../display/dc/optc/dcn35/dcn35_optc.c:59: warning: Excess function parameter 'timing' description in 'optc35_set_odm_combine' Cc: Tom Chung <chiahsuan.chung@amd.com> Cc: Rodrigo Siqueira <Rodrigo.Siqueira@amd.com> Cc: Roman Li <roman.li@amd.com> Cc: Aurabindo Pillai <aurabindo.pillai@amd.com> Signed-off-by: Srinivasan Shanmugam <srinivasan.shanmugam@amd.com> Reviewed-by: Tom Chung <chiahsuan.chung@amd.com> Signed-off-by: Alex Deucher <alexander.deucher@amd.com>
2024-05-13drm/amd/display: Add left edge pixel for YCbCr422/420 + ODM pipe splitWenjing Liu
[WHY] Currently 3-tap chroma subsampling is used for YCbCr422/420. When ODM pipesplit is used, pixels on the left edge of ODM slices need one extra pixel from the right edge of the previous slice to calculate the correct chroma value. Without this change, the chroma value is slightly different than expected. This is usually imperceptible visually, but it impacts test pattern CRCs for compliance test automation. [HOW] Update logic to use the register for adding extra left edge pixel for YCbCr422/420 ODM cases. 2024-05-08drm/amd/display: reset DSC clock in post unlock updateWenjing Liu
[why] Switching between DSC clock or disable DSC block are not double buffered update. Corruption is observed if these updates happen before DSC double buffered disconnection. [how] Move DSC disable and refclk reset to post unlock update. Wait for DSC double buffered disconnection and all mpccs are disconnected before reset DSC clock.
