2026-06-30dt-bindings: Drop incorrect usage of double '::'Krzysztof Kozlowski
There is no use of double colon '::' in YAML. OTOH, the literal style block, e.g. using '|' treats all characters as content [1] therefore single use of ':' in descriptions is perfectly fine, whenever '|' is used. Add a new compatible for the RGA3 (Raster Graphic Acceleration 3) peripheral found on the RK3588 SoC. Also specify an iommu property, as the RGA3 contains the generic rockchip iommu. While other versions also have an iommu, it's usually specific to them. The RK3588 contains one RGA2-Enhance core (also contained on the RK3399) and two RGA3 cores. Both feature a similar functionality of scaling, cropping and rotating of up to two input images into one output image. Key differences of the RGA3 are: - supports 10bit YUV output formats - supports 8x8 tiles and FBCD as inputs and outputs - supports BT2020 color space conversion - max output resolution of (8192-64)x(8192-64) - MMU can map up to 32G DDR RAM - fully planar formats (3 planes) are not supported - max scale up/down factor of 8 (RGA2 allows up to 16) Acked-by: Rob Herring (Arm) <robh@kernel.org> Signed-off-by: Sven Püschel <s.pueschel@pengutronix.de> Signed-off-by: Nicolas Dufresne <nicolas.dufresne@collabora.com> Signed-off-by: Hans Verkuil <hverkuil+cisco@kernel.org>
2026-05-20dt-bindings: media: ti,j721e-csi2rx-shim: Support 32 dma chansJai Luthra
The CSI2RX SHIM IP can support 32x DMA channels. These can be used to split incoming "streams" of data on the CSI-RX port, distinguished by MIPI Virtual Channel (or Data Type), into different locations in memory. Actual number of DMA channels allocated to CSI-RX is dependent on the usecase, and can be modified using the K3 Resource Partitioning tool [1]. So set the minimum channels as 1 and maximum as 32. The i.MX95 CSI-2 controller is nearly identical to i.MX93, with the main difference being the data output interface: i.MX93 use IPI (Image Pixel Interface), which requires: - Pixel clock input - Software configuration through registers i.MX95 uses IDI (Image Data Interface), which: - Does not require pixel clock - Is software transparent (no register configuration needed) Due to these differences in register layout and initialization needs, the two variants cannot share the same compatible string. As SC7180 is the only remaining user of the non-TZ / non-PAS setup which uses the video-firmware subnode, move its definition from the common schema to the SC7180-specific one. These properties do not accurately describe the hardware. Future platforms that are going to support non-TZ setup will use different semantics and different DT ABI (using the iommu-map property). 2026-05-10media: dt-bindings: qcom,sc7280-venus: drop non-PAS supportDmitry Baryshkov
The only users of the non-PAS setup on SC7280 platform are the ChromeOS devices, which were cancelled before reaching end users. Iris, the alternative driver for the same hardware, does not support non-PAS setup. It is expected that in future both Venus and Iris devices will use different ABI for non-PAS (EL2) setup. In order to declare only the future-proof hardware description drop support for non-PAS setup from the SC7280 Venus schema (breaking almost non-existing SC7280 ChromeOS devices). The dropped iommus entry reflects the extra stream, which should not be treated in the same way as the main one (which doesn't match the usage described by the iommus definition). 2026-03-23media: dt-bindings: rockchip, vdec: Add alternative reg-names order for ↵Cristian Ciocaltea
RK35{76,88} With the introduction of the RK3588 SoC, and RK3576 afterwards, three register blocks have been provided for the video decoder unit instead of just one, which are further referenced in vendor's datasheet by 'link table', 'function' and 'cache'. The former is present at the top of the listing, starting at video decoder unit base address. However, while documenting RK3588, the binding broke the convention expecting the unit address to indicate the start of the primary register range, i.e. the 'function' block got listed before the 'link' one. Since the binding changes have been already released and a fix would bring up an ABI break, mark the current 'reg-names' ordering as deprecated and introduce an alternative 'link, function, cache' listing which follows the address-based ordering according to the TRM. Additionally, drop the 'reg' description items as the order is not fixed anymore, while the information they offer is not very relevant anyway. It's worth noting there are currently no (known) users impacted by these binding changes, since the video decoder support for the aforementioned SoCs in mainline driver and devicetrees hasn't been released yet - it landed in v7.0-rc1 while all DTS updates resulting from this will be handled before v7.0 is out.
