Add context analysis annotations for hci_conn::l2cap_data locking. Also add necessary lockdep_assert_held() and __must_hold annotations to prove the access is safe. The access in smp_conn_security() is supposed to be guarded by the caller holding lock that blocks concurrent l2cap_conn_del() eg. hdev->lock, conn->lock or chan->lock. Add MGMT_OP_LOAD_CONN_SUBRATE (0x005C) command to load per-device connection subrate parameters when the SCI feature is supported. Add MGMT_EV_CONN_SUBRATE (0x0033) event to notify userspace when connection rate changes occur via the LE Connection Rate Change HCI event. Add subrate fields (subrate_min, subrate_max, max_latency, cont_num) to struct hci_conn_params to store the loaded subrate parameters, and the corresponding le_rate_* fields to struct hci_conn to track the parameters currently in use. When a single entry is loaded for an already-connected central, or on connection completion, the LE Connection Rate Request procedure is initiated to apply the parameters. 2026-08-07Bluetooth: coredump: Introduce and apply hci_devcd_state_name()Zijun Hu
Introduce hci_devcd_state_name() to describe the devcoredump state by a string name instead of a plain number, for several reasons: 1) Applying it in coredump.c makes the devcoredump state in log messages more readable than a plain number. 2) Transport drivers may need to show the devcoredump state name too. 3) In future, the universal state name could be notified to userspace via uevent, allowing a universal application (e.g. a daemon) to be developed to save the coredump, which is otherwise discarded by the device coredump core after 5 minutes (DEVCD_TIMEOUT); see nxp_coredump_notify(). Also drop a trailing space from two bt_dev_dbg() format strings while applying it in coredump.c. hci_cmd_sync_dequeue_once() had a single in-tree caller, hci_cancel_connect_sync(), which now holds cmd_sync_work_lock across the in-flight create flag test and the dequeue and so open-codes the lookup and cancel under that lock. That leaves the exported hci_cmd_sync_dequeue_once() with no in-tree user, so remove it along with its declaration. Deep qdisc hierarchies can lead to excessive recursion in qdisc tree walkers and exhaust the kernel stack. The existing loop check does not cover the create-and-graft path, so a hierarchy can still be extended by creating a new child qdisc below an already deep parent. Store the hierarchy depth in struct Qdisc and update it when qdiscs are grafted. Reject new child qdiscs once the parent is already at the maximum allowed depth. 2026-08-04ipv6: prevent in6_dev_get() from resurrecting inet6_devKyle Zeng
in6_dev_get() reads dev->ip6_ptr under RCU and then unconditionally increments its refcount. Device teardown can clear the pointer and drop the last reference between these operations. The increment then resurrects an object whose RCU free has already been queued, so callers can use it after it is freed. Use refcount_inc_not_zero() and return NULL when the object has already reached zero. RCU keeps the memory accessible through the attempted reference acquisition, and a successful increment pins the object for the caller. An independent run on the exact unpatched 6f5156d7a31a (v7.2-rc3) kernel reproduced the invalid reference acquisition as UID 1000: refcount_t: addition on 0; use-after-free. ip6_mc_source+0xef4/0x17e0 It was followed by the corresponding reference underflow in ip6_mc_source(). 2026-08-03net: mana: force full-page RX buffers via ethtool private flagDipayaan Roy
On some ARM64 platforms with 4K PAGE_SIZE, page_pool fragment allocation in the RX refill path can cause 15-20% throughput regression under high connection counts (>16 TCP streams). Add an ethtool private flag "full-page-rx" that allows the user to force one RX buffer per page, bypassing the page_pool fragment path. This restores line-rate (180+ Gbps) performance on affected platforms. Usage: ethtool --set-priv-flags eth0 full-page-rx on There is no behavioral change by default. The flag must be explicitly enabled by the user or udev rule. The existing single-buffer-per-page logic for XDP and jumbo frames is consolidated into a new helper mana_use_single_rxbuf_per_page() which is now the single decision point for both the automatic and user-controlled paths. 2026-08-03xsk: validate metadata when processing requestsStanislav Fomichev
The zero-copy path validates TX metadata while obtaining the descriptor context, then reads it again later when preparing the hardware request. User space can change the metadata between those operations and bypass the original validation. Validate the metadata in xsk_tx_metadata_request() and use the resulting flags snapshot for every feature check. Read request fields once so all zero-copy drivers process only values observed after successful validation. 2026-08-03xsk: validate launch-time metadata sizeStanislav Fomichev
Launch-time metadata extends beyond the first 16 bytes of struct xsk_tx_metadata. Reject the request when the registered metadata area does not contain the complete field. Snapshot the validated flags for the generic transmit path and use that snapshot for request and completion processing, avoiding inconsistent decisions if user space changes the flags concurrently. Note that only xsk_skb_metadata is properly using the flags, __xsk_buff_get_metadata ignores them. Next commits address that. 2026-08-03xsk: clear metadata pointer when no timestamp is requestedStanislav Fomichev
User space can change metadata flags after request processing. Rereading them during completion can therefore make the kernel write a timestamp that was not requested when the packet was submitted. Clear the metadata pointer during request processing unless timestamp completion is requested. Completion handling can then use the pointer itself instead of rereading the flags. On the mlx5 multi-packet WQE path metadata is evaluated per batch: xsk_tx_metadata_request() runs only for the descriptor that starts a session, just like the checksum offload that is applied once through the shared WQE. Only that descriptor's pointer is reset, so completion handling can record a timestamp for the other descriptors of the session regardless of their own XDP_TXMD_FLAGS_TIMESTAMP bit. The write stays inside the metadata area; the single-WQE, other zero-copy, and generic paths reset the pointer per descriptor and are unaffected. So pass 0 when dont_wait_for_ack is set, otherwise pass value returned from cfg80211_assign_cookie() call. 2026-08-02wifi: cfg80211: convert cookie output to input parameterArend van Spriel
The remain_on_channel, mgmt_tx, and probe_peer ops previously used a u64 *cookie output parameter. Now that cfg80211 pre-assigns the cookie value before invoking drivers, the parameter conveys a value from caller to driver, not the other way around. Convert it to a plain u64 input parameter across the ops struct (cfg80211.h), rdev-ops.h wrappers, nl80211.c/mlme.c call sites, mac80211, and all driver implementations. The tx_control_port op is excluded: its cookie pointer is nullable (passed as NULL when dont_wait_for_ack is set), so the nullable pointer semantics are still required. Internal mac80211 helpers ieee80211_start_roc_work() and ieee80211_attach_ack_skb() still take u64 *cookie because they assign to the pointee; their callers now pass &cookie to take the address of the local value parameter. wil6210's internal wil_p2p_listen() is also updated to take u64 cookie since it is called directly from the remain_on_channel callback. 2026-08-02wifi: cfg80211: pre-assign cookie for driver callbacksArend van Spriel
Having a single place for cookie assignment and keeping that responsibility in the cfg80211 subsystem is a logical choice as it handles the userspace nl80211 API. add_nan_func already does this: cfg80211 calls cfg80211_assign_cookie() before invoking the driver. Apply the same pattern to remain_on_channel, mgmt_tx, probe_peer and tx_control_port by pre-assigning the cookie in the nl80211 command handlers before the rdev_* call. For tx_control_port the cookie is only pre-assigned when the caller requests an ack (cookie pointer non-NULL). Drivers may still overwrite the value for now; subsequent patches will remove per-driver cookie generation. KSZ8463 uses the KSZ9893 DSA TAG driver. However, the KSZ8463 doesn't use the tail tag to convey timestamps to the host as KSZ9893 does. It uses the reserved fields in the PTP header instead. Add a KSZ8463-specific DSA_TAG driver to handle KSZ8463 timestamps. There is no information in the tail tag to distinguish PTP packets from others so use the ptp_classify_raw() helper to find the PTP packets and extract the timestamp from their PTP headers. Sashiko notes that playing games with the skb dst and rt flags instead of providing hooknum is not a good idea when validating the checksums. Also, skipping checksum validation for FORWARD packets risk silent data corruption, even if the only user is the FTP-CMD packets coming from the real server. Sashiko also noticed that by using common checksum helper in the previous commit we actually fixed old bug where the TCP/UDP checksum for IPv6 on CHECKSUM_COMPLETE was not validated correctly. Sashiko warns that local attacker can modify the packet while it is processed by IPVS. Some places read the IP ihl field multiple times which can cause out-of-bounds access. One such place is ip_vs_nat_icmp where we can write after the validated area. When an fdb entry points at a nexthop group, vxlan_fdb_nh_path_select() resolves the selected leg's remote IP but leaves the UDP destination port at the device default (vxlan->cfg.dst_port). Extend nexthop_path_fdb_result() to also return the selected nexthop's NHA_DST_PORT (0 when unset) and have vxlan_fdb_nh_path_select() store it in rdst->remote_port. vxlan_xmit_one() already prefers rdst->remote_port when non-zero and falls back to the device port otherwise, so nexthops without a port are unaffected. This lets one fdb nexthop group load-balance a flow across legs that share an underlay IP but differ in UDP destination port. 2026-07-30net: nexthop: add NHA_DST_PORT for fdb nexthopsJack Ma
Commit 1274e1cc4226 ("vxlan: ecmp support for mac fdb entries") lets a single inner MAC be reached through a group of remote VTEPs, with the kernel flow-hashing across the group members. Each member carries its own remote IP, but the UDP destination port is always taken from the VXLAN device (vxlan->cfg.dst_port) and cannot be set per member. Some deployments pack several receivers behind one underlay IP and tell them apart by UDP port, so they need a per-nexthop destination port to spread flows across (IP, port) tuples rather than IP alone. Add a netlink attribute NHA_DST_PORT (__be16, mirroring NDA_PORT) that carries an optional UDP destination port on an fdb nexthop. It is only accepted together with NHA_FDB and NHA_GATEWAY; it is stored in struct nh_info and echoed back on dump. The attribute is named generically rather than fdb-specific so it can be reused should another nexthop type ever need a destination port. This patch is control-plane plumbing only; the VXLAN datapath is wired up in a follow-up patch, so behaviour is unchanged for now. Node deletion "mid-hierarchy" is supported so some of the leaves may themselves be nodes. Therefore the driver facing group() may be called with nodes. The ie_len field in struct mesh_setup stores the length of the information elements (IEs) buffer. It is currently defined as u8, which limits the maximum supported length to 255 bytes. The IE length is derived from memory buffers whose size is naturally represented by size_t. Using u8 may truncate larger values and can result in incorrect length handling. Change ie_len to size_t so it can represent the full buffer length and match the type commonly used for memory sizes throughout the kernel. 2026-07-24xsk: reclaim invalid Tx descriptors in ZC batch pathMaciej Fijalkowski
The zero-copy Tx batch parser stops when it encounters an invalid descriptor. If this happens after one or more continuation descriptors, the Tx consumer can be advanced past fragments that are neither submitted to the driver nor returned to userspace through the completion ring. A similar problem occurs when a packet exceeds xdp_zc_max_segs. The descriptors consumed up to the limit are released without completion, and the remaining continuation descriptors can subsequently be interpreted as the beginning of another packet. Parse Tx batches in packet units and distinguish descriptors belonging to complete valid packets from descriptors consumed while draining an invalid or oversized packet. Return the former to the driver and append the latter to the CQ address area so userspace can reclaim their UMEM frames. Treat a standalone invalid descriptor as a one-descriptor reclaim-only packet. Advancing the Tx-ring consumer releases the ring slot, but does not by itself return ownership of the referenced UMEM frame to userspace. Once draining starts, continue until the packet's end-of-packet descriptor is consumed. Preserve the drain state on the socket when EOP has not yet been supplied, so draining can continue during a later call. Leave incomplete but otherwise valid packets on the Tx ring. Shared-UMEM pools using multi-buffer Tx also need packet-framed parsing. Walk their Tx sockets one packet at a time, preserving the existing per-socket fairness scheme, instead of using the legacy one-descriptor fallback. Keep that fallback for shared pools that do not use multi-buffer Tx. Since the drain state is maintained per socket and both the singular and shared paths can resume an interrupted drain, changing the socket list from singular to shared requires no special bind-time transition. CQ entries are positional, and drivers may complete only part of the Tx work returned by xsk_tx_peek_release_desc_batch(). Therefore, reclaim-only entries cannot be published immediately when earlier driver-visible descriptors are still outstanding. Track the number of driver-visible CQ entries preceding the reclaim entries. Let xsk_tx_completed() publish partial hardware Tx completions, and publish the reclaim entries only after every earlier Tx descriptor has completed. Complete a reclaim-only batch immediately when there is no driver-visible work in front of it, and prevent another Tx batch from being appended while reclaim entries remain pending. Also cap batch processing by the size of the pool's temporary descriptor array, as Tx rings belonging to sockets sharing a UMEM may have different sizes. This ensures that every invalid Tx descriptor consumed by the ZC batch path is either submitted to the driver as part of a valid packet or returned to userspace without violating CQ completion ordering. 2026-07-24xsk: provide sufficient space in pool->tx_descsMaciej Fijalkowski
The temporary Tx descriptor array in an XSK buffer pool is currently sized from the Tx ring of the socket that creates the pool. This is insufficient for shared-UMEM Tx. A later socket may have a larger Tx ring and submit a valid multi-buffer packet containing more descriptors than the first socket's ring, while still remaining within the device's xdp_zc_max_segs limit. A packet-framed batch parser bounded by the temporary array cannot reach the end-of-packet descriptor in that case. It leaves the packet on the Tx ring and encounters the same packet on every subsequent attempt, stalling Tx processing for that socket. Size the temporary descriptor array to the larger of the first Tx ring and the device's xdp_zc_max_segs capability. This keeps the array large enough to inspect one maximum-sized valid packet. Larger shared Tx rings do not require further resizing, as they can be processed over multiple batches. Following commit will actually address the data path side. Sashiko warns that ip_vs_nat_icmp() unconditionally mangles the payload for embedded non-first IPv4 fragments. The problem is in the very old inverted pp->dont_defrag check which should not continue when embedded is a non-first TCP/UDP/SCTP fragment. Check for embedded non-first fragment is also missing from ip_vs_out_icmp_v6(), it is needed before any connection lookups that expect ports after the network headers. Drop the blocking code from ip_vs_in_icmp_v6() which prevents ICMPv6 from local clients to use non-MASQ forwarding.
