2025-08-19drm/gpuvm: Introduce drm_gpuvm_madvise_ops_createHimal Prasad Ghimiray
This ops is used to iterate over GPUVA's in the user-provided range and split the existing sparse VMA's if the start or end of the input range lies within it. The operations can create up to 2 REMAPS and 2 MAPs. The primary use case is for drivers to assign attributes to GPU VAs in the specified range without performing unmaps or merging mappings, supporting fine-grained control over sparse va's. 2025-08-20cpufreq: mediatek-hw: don't use error path on NULL fdvfsNicolas Frattaroli
The IS_ERR_OR_NULL check for priv->fdvfs is inappropriate, and should be an IS_ERR check instead, as a NULL value here would propagate it to PTR_ERR. In practice, there is no problem here, as devm_of_iomap cannot return NULL in any circumstance. However, it causes a Smatch static checker warning. Fix the warning by changing the check from IS_ERR_OR_NULL to IS_ERR. Fix missing configuration for LAN865x silicon revisions B0 and B1 as per Microchip Application Note AN1760 (Rev F, June 2024). The Timer Increment register was not being set, which is required for accurate timestamping. As per the application note, configure the MAC to set timestamping at the end of the Start of Frame Delimiter (SFD), and set the Timer Increment register to 40 ns (corresponding to a 25 MHz internal clock). 2025-08-19microchip: lan865x: fix missing netif_start_queue() call on device openParthiban Veerasooran
This fixes an issue where the transmit queue is started implicitly only the very first time the device is registered. When the device is taken down and brought back up again (using `ip` or `ifconfig`), the transmit queue is not restarted, causing packet transmission to hang. Adding an explicit call to netif_start_queue() in lan865x_net_open() ensures the transmit queue is properly started every time the device is reopened. 2025-08-19net/mlx5: CT: Use the correct counter offsetVlad Dogaru
Specifying the counter action is not enough, as it is used by multiple counters that were allocated in a bulk. By omitting the offset, rules will be associated with a different counter from the same bulk. Subsequently, the CT subsystem checks the correct counter, assumes that no traffic has triggered the rule, and ages out the rule. The end result is intermittent offloading of long lived connections, as rules are aged out then promptly re-added. Fix this by specifying the correct offset along with the counter rule. 2025-08-19net/mlx5: HWS, prevent rehash from filling up the queuesYevgeny Kliteynik
While moving the rules during rehash, CQ is not drained. The flush and drain happens only when all the rules of a certain queue have been moved. This behaviour can lead to accumulating large quantity of rules that haven't got their completion yet, and eventually will fill up the queue and will cause the rehash to fail. Fix this problem by requiring drain once the number of outstanding completions reaches a certain threshold. Moving rules from matcher to matcher should not fail. However, if it does fail due to various reasons, the error flow should allow the kernel to continue functioning (albeit with broken steering rules) instead of going into series of soft lock-ups or some other problematic behaviour. Similar to the simple rules, complex rules rehash logic suffers from the same problems. This patch fixes the error flow for moving complex rules: - If new rule creation fails before it was even enqeued, do not poll for completion - If TIMEOUT happened while moving the rule, no point trying to poll for completions for other rules. Something is broken, completion won't come, just abort the rehash sequence. - If some other completion with error received, don't give up. Continue handling rest of the rules to minimize the damage. - Make sure that the first error code that was received will be actually returned to the caller instead of replacing it with the generic error code. All the aforementioned issues stem from the same bad error flow, so no point fixing them one by one and leaving partially broken code - fixing them in one patch. 2025-08-19scsi: qla2xxx: Fix memcpy() field-spanning write issueGustavo A. R. Silva
purex_item.iocb is defined as a 64-element u8 array, but 64 is the minimum size and it can be allocated larger. This makes it a standard empty flex array. This was motivated by field-spanning write warnings during FPIN testing: https://lore.kernel.org/linux-nvme/20250709211919.49100-1-bgurney@redhat.com/ > kernel: memcpy: detected field-spanning write (size 60) of single field > "((uint8_t *)fpin_pkt + buffer_copy_offset)" > at drivers/scsi/qla2xxx/qla_isr.c:1221 (size 44) I removed the outer wrapper from the iocb flex array, so that it can be linked to 'purex_item.size' with '__counted_by'. These changes remove the default minimum 64-byte allocation, requiring further changes. In 'struct scsi_qla_host' the embedded 'default_item' is now followed by '__default_item_iocb[QLA_DEFAULT_PAYLOAD_SIZE]' to reserve space that will be used as 'default_item.iocb'. This is wrapped using the 'TRAILING_OVERLAP()' macro helper, which effectively creates a union between flexible-array member 'default_item.iocb' and '__default_item_iocb'. Since 'struct pure_item' now contains a flexible-array member, the helper must be placed at the end of 'struct scsi_qla_host' to prevent a '-Wflex-array-member-not-at-end' warning. 'qla24xx_alloc_purex_item()' is adjusted to no longer expect the default minimum size to be part of 'sizeof(struct purex_item)', the entire flexible array size is added to the structure size for allocation. This also slightly changes the layout of the purex_item struct, as 2-bytes of padding are added between 'size' and 'iocb'. The resulting size is the same, but iocb is shifted 2-bytes (the original 'purex_item' structure was padded at the end, after the 64-byte defined array size). I don't think this is a problem. 2025-08-19net: stmmac: dwmac4: stop hardware from dropping checksum-error packetsOleksij Rempel
Tell the MAC not to discard frames that fail TCP/IP checksum validation. By default, when the hardware checksum engine (CoE) is enabled, dwmac4 silently drops any packet where the offload engine detects a checksum error. These frames are not reported to the driver and are not counted in any statistics as dropped packets. Set the MTL_OP_MODE_DIS_TCP_EF bit when initializing the Rx channel so that all packets are delivered, even if they failed hardware checksum validation. CoE remains enabled, but instead of dropping such frames, the driver propagates the error status and marks the skb with CHECKSUM_NONE. This allows the stack to verify and drop the packet while updating statistics. 2025-08-19net: stmmac: dwmac4: report Rx checksum errors in statusOleksij Rempel
Propagate hardware checksum failures from the descriptor parser to the caller. Currently, dwmac4_wrback_get_rx_status() updates stats when the Rx descriptor signals an IP header or payload checksum error, but it does not reflect this in its return value. The higher-level stmmac_rx() code therefore cannot tell that hardware checksum validation failed. Set the csum_none flag in the returned status when either RDES1_IP_HDR_ERROR or RDES1_IP_PAYLOAD_ERROR is present. This aligns dwmac4 with enh_desc_coe_rdes0() and lets stmmac_rx() mark the skb as CHECKSUM_NONE for software verification. This is a preparatory step for disabling the hardware filter that drops frames which do not pass checksum validation. 2025-08-19net: stmmac: Correctly handle Rx checksum offload errorsOleksij Rempel
The stmmac_rx function would previously set skb->ip_summed to CHECKSUM_UNNECESSARY if hardware checksum offload (CoE) was enabled and the packet was of a known IP ethertype. However, this logic failed to check if the hardware had actually reported a checksum error. The hardware status, indicating a header or payload checksum failure, was being ignored at this stage. This could cause corrupt packets to be passed up the network stack as valid. This patch corrects the logic by checking the `csum_none` status flag, which is set when the hardware reports a checksum error. If this flag is set, skb->ip_summed is now correctly set to CHECKSUM_NONE, ensuring the kernel's network stack will perform its own validation and properly handle the corrupt packet. Note that for reconfiguring the divisor, the divider must be disabled first and re-enabled later to make sure the new divisor take effect. The exact clock rate doesn't affect MAC's initialization according to my test. It's set to the speed required by RGMII when the linkspeed is 1Gbps and could be reclocked later after link is up if necessary. 2025-08-19net: phy: realtek: enable serdes option mode for RTL8226-CGMarkus Stockhausen
The RTL8226-CG can make use of the serdes option mode feature to dynamically switch between SGMII and 2500base-X. From what is known the setup sequence is much simpler with no magic values. Convert the exiting config_init() into a helper that configures the PHY depending on generation 1 or 2. Call the helper from two separated new config_init() functions. Finally convert the phy_driver specs of the RTL8226-CG to make use of the new configuration and switch over to the extended read_status() function to dynamically change the interface according to the serdes mode. Remark! The logic could be simpler if the serdes mode could be set before all other generation 2 magic values. Due to missing RTL8221B test hardware the mmd command order was kept. Tested on Zyxel XGS1210-12. 2025-08-19gve: prevent ethtool ops after shutdownJordan Rhee
A crash can occur if an ethtool operation is invoked after shutdown() is called. shutdown() is invoked during system shutdown to stop DMA operations without performing expensive deallocations. It is discouraged to unregister the netdev in this path, so the device may still be visible to userspace and kernel helpers. In gve, shutdown() tears down most internal data structures. If an ethtool operation is dispatched after shutdown(), it will dereference freed or NULL pointers, leading to a kernel panic. While graceful shutdown normally quiesces userspace before invoking the reboot syscall, forced shutdowns (as observed on GCP VMs) can still trigger this path. Fix by calling netif_device_detach() in shutdown(). This marks the device as detached so the ethtool ioctl handler will skip dispatching operations to the driver. 2025-08-19phy: mscc: Fix timestamping for vsc8584Horatiu Vultur
There was a problem when we received frames and the frames were timestamped. The driver is configured to store the nanosecond part of the timestmap in the ptp reserved bits and it would take the second part by reading the LTC. The problem is that when reading the LTC we are in atomic context and to read the second part will go over mdio bus which might sleep, so we get an error. The fix consists in actually put all the frames in a queue and start the aux work and in that work to read the LTC and then calculate the full received time. Ideally, read the present DDR memory controller count first and then allocate the skx_dev list using this count. However, this approach requires adding a significant amount of code similar to skx_get_all_bus_mappings() to obtain the PCI bus mappings for the first socket and use these mappings along with the related PCI register offset to read the memory controller count. Given that the Granite Rapids CPU is the only one that can detect the count of memory controllers at runtime (other CPUs use the count in the configuration data), to reduce code complexity, reallocate the skx_dev list only if the preconfigured count of DDR memory controllers differs from the count read at runtime for Granite Rapids CPU. The current skx->imc[NUM_IMC] array of memory controller instances is sized using the macro NUM_IMC. Each time EDAC support is added for a new CPU, NUM_IMC needs to be updated to ensure it is greater than or equal to the number of memory controllers for the new CPU. This approach is inconvenient and results in memory waste for older CPUs with fewer memory controllers. To address this, make skx->imc[] a flexible array and determine its size from configuration data or at runtime. The expected on-wire format of an SMBus Block Write is S Addr Wr [A] Comm [A] Count [A] Data [A] Data [A] ... [A] Data [A] P Everything starting from the Count byte is provided by the I2C subsystem in the array data->block. But the driver was skipping the Count byte (data->block[0]) when sending it to the RTL93xx I2C controller. Only the actual data could be seen on the wire: S Addr Wr [A] Comm [A] Data [A] Data [A] ... [A] Data [A] P This wire format is not SMBus Block Write compatible but matches the format of an I2C Block Write. Simply adding the count byte to the buffer for the I2C controller is enough to fix the transmission. This also affects read because the I2C controller must receive the count byte + $count * data bytes. 2025-08-19i2c: rtl9300: Increase timeout for transfer pollingSven Eckelmann
The timeout for transfers was only set to 2ms. Because of this relatively low limit, 12-byte read operations to the frontend MCU of a RTL8239 POE PSE chip cluster was consistently resulting in a timeout. The original OpenWrt downstream driver [1] was not using any timeout limit at all. This is also possible by setting the timeout_us parameter of regmap_read_poll_timeout() to 0. But since the driver currently implements the ETIMEDOUT error, it is more sensible to increase the timeout in such a way that communication with the (quite common) Realtek I2C-connected POE management solution is possible. 2025-08-19i2c: rtl9300: Fix multi-byte I2C writeHarshal Gohel
The RTL93xx I2C controller has 4 32 bit registers to store the bytes for the upcoming I2C transmission. The first byte is stored in the least-significant byte of the first register. And the last byte in the most significant byte of the last register. A map of the transferred bytes to their order in the registers is: reg 0: 0x04_03_02_01 reg 1: 0x08_07_06_05 reg 2: 0x0c_0b_0a_09 reg 3: 0x10_0f_0e_0d The i2c_read() function basically demonstrates how the hardware would pick up bytes from this register set. But the i2c_write() function was just pushing bytes one after another to the least significant byte of a register AFTER shifting the last one to the next more significant byte position. If you would then have tried to send a buffer with numbers 1-11 using i2c_write(), you would have ended up with following register content: reg 0: 0x01_02_03_04 reg 1: 0x05_06_07_08 reg 2: 0x00_09_0a_0b reg 3: 0x00_00_00_00 On the wire, you would then have seen: Sr Addr Wr [A] 04 A 03 A 02 A 01 A 08 A 07 A 06 A 05 A 0b A 0a A 09 A P But the correct data transmission was expected to be Sr Addr Wr [A] 01 A 02 A 03 A 04 A 05 A 06 A 07 A 08 A 09 A 0a A 0b A P Because of this multi-byte ordering problem, only single byte i2c_write() operations were executed correctly (on the wire). By shifting the byte directly to the correct end position in the register, it is possible to avoid this incorrect byte ordering and fix multi-byte transmissions. The second initialization (to 0) of vals was also be dropped because this array is initialized to 0 on the stack by using `= {};`. This makes the fix a lot more readable. 2025-08-19cpufreq: Avoid calling get_governor() for first policyZihuan Zhang
When a cpufreq driver registers the first policy, it may attempt to initialize the policy governor from `last_governor`. However, this is meaningless for the first policy instance, because `last_governor` is only updated when policies are removed (e.g. during CPU offline). The `last_governor` mechanism is intended to restore the previously used governor across CPU hotplug events. For the very first policy, there is no "previous governor" to restore, so calling get_governor(last_governor) is unnecessary and potentially confusing. Skip looking up `last_governor` when registering the first policy. Instead, it directly uses the default governor after all governors have been registered and are available. This avoids meaningless lookups, reduces unnecessary module reference handling, and simplifies the initial policy path.
