There is a comment in vfs_prepare_mode() that says:
Note that it's currently valid for @type to be 0 if a directory is
created. Filesystems raise that flag individually and we need to check
whether each filesystem can deal with receiving S_IFDIR from the vfs
before we enforce a non-zero type.
It is safe to do this clean-up except that three filesystems (fuse,
cifs, and coda) forward the mkdir @mode unchanged to something outside
the kernel. Mask S_IFDIR back out in coda_mkdir(), fuse_mkdir() and
cifs_mkdir() so that what is sent outside the kernel is unchanged.
Their maintainers can drop the mask once they have confirmed it is safe.

Implement wake IRQ support for the mvebu GPIO controller:
- Replace unused irqbase field with bank_irq[4] to store per-bank
IRQ numbers for use in the wake-up callback.
- Add mvebu_gpio_set_wake_irq() that forwards enable_irq_wake /
disable_irq_wake to the correct parent IRQ based on hwirq.
- Set IRQCHIP_SET_TYPE_MASKED and IRQCHIP_MASK_ON_SUSPEND flags
on both level and edge chip types.
- Set IRQ_GC_INIT_NESTED_LOCK for the nested irq domain.
- Add missing <linux/interrupt.h> include.

The updated SIUL2 block groups pinctrl, GPIO data access
and interrupt control within the same hardware unit.
The SIUL2 driver is therefore structured as a monolithic
pinctrl/GPIO driver.
GPIO data access and direction handling are implemented using the
gpio-regmap library backed by a virtual regmap. The virtual regmap
translates the gpio-regmap register model to the underlying SIUL2
registers: MSCR for direction, PGPDI for input values and PGPDO for
output values.
The existing pinctrl GPIO callbacks are used for the request/free path:
they switch the pad to GPIO mode on request and restore the previous
MSCR configuration when the GPIO is released.

Extend the S32G2 SIUL2 pinctrl binding to describe the GPIO data and
external interrupt resources present in the same SIUL2 hardware block.
Besides the MSCR and IMCR registers used for pin multiplexing and pad
configuration, SIUL2 also contains PGPDO and PGPDI registers
for GPIO data and EIRQ registers for external interrupt control.
Add GPIO controller properties because the SIUL2 block also provides
GPIO functionality, and gpio-ranges are needed to describe the
mapping between GPIO lines and pin controller pins.
Document the interrupt controller properties. The SIUL2 block
contains EIRQ hardware as part of the same register space. IRQ support
itself will be added in a follow-up patch series.
Update the example accordingly to show the complete SIUL2 register
layout, including the GPIO data and EIRQ register windows.

__xfs_buf_ioend can only resubmit the buffer for asynchronous
writes, which means the retry handling xfs_buf_iowait is not needed.
Because of this can stop returning a value from __xfs_buf_ioend and
just release the buffer for async I/O that does not require retries.
Also drop the __-prefix now that the semantics are straight forward.

Commit 292db66afd20 ("ACPICA: Unbreak tools build after switching over
to strscpy_pad()") added an #ifdef based on a __KERNEL__ check which is
sort of nasty to the acpi_ut_safe_strncpy() definition to unbreak ACPICA
tools builds broken by commit 97f7d3f9c9ac ("ACPICA: Replace strncpy()
with strscpy_pad() in acpi_ut_safe_strncpy()"). However, that #ifdef
effectively produces dead code when tools are built because they don't
call acpi_ut_safe_strncpy().
Accordingly, drop the existing definition of acpi_ut_safe_strncpy() and
define it as a strscpy_pad() alias.

drm_dp_mst_topology_queue_probe()
A hotplug or link-loss event can tear down the MST topology
(setting mgr->mst_state = false and mgr->mst_primary = NULL) concurrently
with a caller invoking drm_dp_mst_topology_queue_probe(). Since the check
is already performed under mgr->lock, the condition is not a programming
error but a valid race -- the topology was valid when the caller decided
to call this function, but was torn down before the lock was acquired.
Replace the drm_WARN_ON() with a graceful early return. This eliminates
spurious kernel warnings and the resulting compositor crashes observed
when connecting/disconnecting DP MST monitors, while keeping the correct
behavior of doing nothing when MST is not active. A drm_dbg_mst() trace
is added so the skipped probe remains observable under MST debug logging.
The existing WARN_ON(mgr->mst_primary) in drm_dp_mst_topology_mgr_set_mst()
already catches the case where the topology is initialized twice, so no
diagnostic coverage is lost.

While the GCC and Clang compilers already define __ASSEMBLER__
automatically when compiling assembly code, __ASSEMBLY__ is a
macro that only gets defined by the Makefiles in the kernel.
This can be very confusing when switching between userspace
and kernelspace coding, or when dealing with uapi headers that
rather should use __ASSEMBLER__ instead. So let's standardize now
on the __ASSEMBLER__ macro that is provided by the compilers.

Checksum verification is needed
1. for crash kernels. In a crash, we can't be sure the kernel is
intact.
2. if we're worried about relocating the kernel into a region used by
some DMA that wasn't properly cancelled.
If KHO is enabled then relocations will happen to KHO scratch, which
is free from DMA regions.
If we used CMA to allocate segments then relocations are not going to
happen at all.
Therefore, we can safely disable checksum verification in both of those
cases.
Instead of adding a new variable to purgatory, just skip adding regions
and save the default value of SHA256 hash.
Saves ~250ms on my 4.0 GHz CPU. This is an important saving for the
live-update project.

xlog_do_recovery_pass() may return before setting first_bad. The caller
must distinguish that case from an error at a valid log block, including
block zero after the log wraps.
Initialize first_bad to XFS_BUF_DADDR_NULL and test it explicitly before
treating the error as a torn write.

If xfs_metadir_create() fails in xfs_dqinode_metadir_create(), the current
code returns directly, leaking the allocated update and transaction state.
If the subsequent commit fails, the caller-owned inode reference is left
behind.
Fix this memory leak by routing the create failure path through
xfs_metadir_cancel(). For both create and commit failures, finish and
release any inode returned to the caller, mirroring the unwind pattern in
xfs_metadir_mkdir().
The bug was first flagged by an experimental analysis tool we are
developing for kernel memory-management bugs while analyzing
v6.13-rc1. The tool is still under development and is not yet publicly
available. Manual inspection confirms that the bug is still
present in v7.1.1.
An x86_64 allyesconfig build showed no new warnings. Runtime validation
used kprobe fault injection during `mount -o uquota` on a metadir XFS
image. Injecting xfs_metadir_create() reproduced the old active-update path
that left mount stuck later in mount setup; after this change, the same
injection reported cancel_hits=1 and irele_hits=1. Injecting
xfs_metadir_commit() exercised the old inode-reference leak path; after
this change, it reported irele_hits=1.

xfs_qm_dqpurge() gets a locked buffer from xfs_dquot_use_attached_buf().
If xfs_qm_dqflush() fails, the error path skips xfs_buf_relse() and then
calls xfs_dquot_detach_buf(), which tries to lock the same buffer again.
Release the buffer after xfs_qm_dqflush() returns so the error path drops
the caller hold and unlocks the buffer before the dquot is detached,
matching the other dqflush callers.

"xlnx,irq-delay" programs an 8-bit delay field in the DMA control
register, and the driver stores and reads it as a byte. The binding
described the property as a uint32 cell, which made the helper type
check report the driver as wrong.
Document "xlnx,irq-delay" as uint8 so the generated schema reflects
the hardware field width and the existing driver access.

The DT schema conversion incorrectly changed xlnx,flush-fsync from a u32
property to a boolean. The original binding documented values 1, 2, and 3
to select which VDMA channel(s) flush on frame sync.
Restore the uint32 type with the documented enum values and fix the
example accordingly.

During a page table walk for binding, xe_pt_stage_bind() explicitly
skips initializing the xe_res_cursor for purged BOs, treating them
similarly to NULL VMAs by only setting the cursor size.
However, xe_pt_hugepte_possible() and xe_pt_scan_64K() did not check
if the BO was purged before attempting to walk the cursor using
xe_res_dma() and xe_res_next(). Because the cursor was left
uninitialized for purged BOs, this falls through and triggers
warnings like:
WARNING: drivers/gpu/drm/xe/xe_res_cursor.h:274 at xe_res_next
Fix this by explicitly checking if the BO is purged in both
xe_pt_hugepte_possible() and xe_pt_scan_64K(), returning early just
as we do for NULL VMAs, avoiding the invalid cursor accesses entirely.
As a precaution, also zero-initialize the cursor in xe_pt_stage_bind()
to ensure we don't pass garbage data into the page table walkers
if we ever hit a similar edge case in the future.

Now that Xe supports explicit madvise WILLNEED/DONTNEED states,
userspace can mark memory in any placement as eligible for purging.
Update bo_meminfo to also include any BO explicitly marked as DONTNEED
in the purgeable statistics, ensuring fdinfo accurately reflects all
memory offered up for reclamation.
