bl_parse_concat() and bl_parse_stripe() allocate a child device array and
then parse each child in turn. If parsing a child fails, the failed child is
not counted in nr_children and the parent may be left with a children array
that bl_free_device() will not release when nr_children is zero.

Release the failed child and the already parsed children before returning the
error. Also make bl_free_device() release the child array whenever the
children pointer is set, so that partially initialised concat or stripe
devices are cleaned up correctly.

bl_parse_scsi() can also fail after assigning d-&gt;bdev_file and dropping the
file reference. Clear the pointer after fput() so that an outer cleanup path
does not put it again.

<title>pnfs/blocklayout: use scoped_with_init_fs() for SCSI device lookup</title>

bl_open_path() resolves pNFS block device paths under /dev/disk/by-id/
via bdev_file_open_by_path() -&gt; lookup_bdev() -&gt; kern_path(). This
path resolution uses current-&gt;fs-&gt;root.

With kthreads now starting in nullfs, this fails when the call
originates from writeback kworker context because current-&gt;fs-&gt;root
points at the empty nullfs. The full callchain from kworker is:

  wb_workfn                              [kworker writeback callback]
    ...
      nfs_writepages                     [address_space_operations.writepages]
        nfs_do_writepage
          nfs_pageio_add_request
            ...
              bl_pg_init_write           [nfs_pageio_ops.pg_init]

                              bl_alloc_deviceid_node
                                bl_parse_deviceid
                                  bl_parse_scsi
                                    bl_open_path
                                      bdev_file_open_by_path

                                          kern_path  &lt;- current-&gt;fs-&gt;root

bl_open_path() can also be reached from userspace process context (e.g.
open, read, write syscalls via pnfs_update_layout). In that case
current-&gt;fs must not be overridden as the path should resolve against
the calling process's filesystem root.

Add a tsk_is_kthread() conditional in bl_open_path() to only apply
scoped_with_init_fs() in kthread context.

Pull nfsd updates from Chuck Lever:

 - filehandle signing to defend against filehandle-guessing attacks
   (Benjamin Coddington)

   The server now appends a SipHash-2-4 MAC to each filehandle when
   the new "sign_fh" export option is enabled. NFSD then verifies
   filehandles received from clients against the expected MAC;
   mismatches return NFS error STALE

 - convert the entire NLMv4 server-side XDR layer from hand-written C to
   xdrgen-generated code, spanning roughly thirty patches (Chuck Lever)

   XDR functions are generally boilerplate code and are easy to get
   wrong. The goals of this conversion are improved memory safety, lower
   maintenance burden, and groundwork for eventual Rust code generation
   for these functions.

 - improve pNFS block/SCSI layout robustness with two related changes
   (Dai Ngo)

   SCSI persistent reservation fencing is now tracked per client and
   per device via an xarray, to avoid both redundant preempt operations
   on devices already fenced and a potential NFSD deadlock when all nfsd
   threads are waiting for a layout return.

 - scalability and infrastructure improvements

   Sincere thanks to all contributors, reviewers, testers, and bug
   reporters who participated in the v7.1 NFSD development cycle.

NFSD then verifies
   filehandles received from clients against the expected MAC;
   mismatches return NFS error STALE

We already print device uses for block layouts, do the same for SCSI
layouts as that greatly helps understanding the operation of the client.

Remove unused pagevec.h includes from .c files. These were found with
the following command:

  grep -rl '#include.*pagevec\.h' --include='*.c' | while read f; do
  	grep -qE 'PAGEVEC_SIZE|folio_batch' "$f" || echo "$f"
  done

There are probably more removal candidates in .h files, but those are
more complex to analyze.

Clang compiler is not happy about set but unused variable
(when dprintk() is no-op):

.../blocklayout/blocklayout.c:384:9: error: variable 'count' set but not used [-Werror,-Wunused-but-set-variable]

<title>treewide: Replace kmalloc with kmalloc_obj for non-scalar types</title>

This is the result of running the Coccinelle script from
scripts/coccinelle/api/kmalloc_objs.cocci. The script is designed to
avoid scalar types (which need careful case-by-case checking), and
instead replace kmalloc-family calls that allocate struct or union
object instances:

Single allocations:	kmalloc(sizeof(TYPE), ...)
are replaced with:	kmalloc_obj(TYPE, ...)

Array allocations:	kmalloc_array(COUNT, sizeof(TYPE), ...)
are replaced with:	kmalloc_objs(TYPE, COUNT, ...)

Flex array allocations:	kmalloc(struct_size(PTR, FAM, COUNT), ...)
are replaced with:	kmalloc_flex(*PTR, FAM, COUNT, ...)

(where TYPE may also be *VAR)

The resulting allocations no longer return "void *", instead returning
"TYPE *".

In bl_parse_scsi(), if the block device length is zero, the function
returns immediately without releasing the file reference obtained via
bl_open_path(), leading to a memory leak.

Fix this by jumping to the out_blkdev_put label to ensure the file
reference is properly released.
