The MOST core and the already converted net component log with device
context, while the video component still uses bare pr_err(), which
leaves its messages without any hint of the originating interface.
Both affected functions have the most_interface at hand, so log through
dev_err(iface-&gt;dev, ...) exactly like drivers/most/core.c does.

All English text in this patch (commit message and code comments) was
translated from a German draft with the assistance of Claude Fable 5.

comp_register_videodev() allocates a video_device with
video_device_alloc() and releases it if video_register_device() fails.

This can double free the video_device when __video_register_device()
reaches device_register() and that call fails:

  video_register_device()
    -&gt; __video_register_device()
       -&gt; device_register() fails
          -&gt; put_device(&amp;vdev-&gt;dev)
             -&gt; v4l2_device_release()
                -&gt; vdev-&gt;release(vdev)
                   -&gt; video_device_release(vdev)

  comp_register_videodev()
    -&gt; video_device_release(mdev-&gt;vdev)

Use video_device_release_empty() while registering the device so that
registration failure paths do not free mdev-&gt;vdev through vdev-&gt;release().
comp_register_videodev() then releases mdev-&gt;vdev exactly once on failure.
Restore video_device_release() after successful registration so the
registered device keeps its normal lifetime handling.

This issue was found by a static analysis tool I am developing.

most_deregister_component() already calls disconnect_channel() for
every linked channel via bus_for_each_dev() in core.c, which invokes
comp_disconnect_channel() to remove each entry from the video_devices
list and tear down the V4L2 device.

The manual cleanup loop in comp_exit() duplicates this work and is
guarded by a stale comment claiming that "mostcore currently doesn't
call disconnect_channel() for linked channels" — but the core has
since been fixed to do exactly that.

Remove the redundant manual cleanup loop, the outdated comment, and
the BUG_ON() assertion that checked for a condition that can no longer
occur.

This was done entirely with mindless brute force, using

    git grep -l '\&lt;k[vmz]*alloc_objs*(.*, GFP_KERNEL)' |
        xargs sed -i 's/\(alloc_objs*(.*\), GFP_KERNEL)/\1)/'

to convert the new alloc_obj() users that had a simple GFP_KERNEL
argument to just drop that argument.

Note that due to the extreme simplicity of the scripting, any slightly
more complex cases spread over multiple lines would not be triggered:
they definitely exist, but this covers the vast bulk of the cases, and
the resulting diff is also then easier to check automatically.

For the same reason the 'flex' versions will be done as a separate
conversion.

This is the result of running the Coccinelle script from
scripts/coccinelle/api/kmalloc_objs.cocci. The script is designed to
avoid scalar types (which need careful case-by-case checking), and
instead replace kmalloc-family calls that allocate struct or union
object instances:

Single allocations:	kmalloc(sizeof(TYPE), ...)
are replaced with:	kmalloc_obj(TYPE, ...)

Array allocations:	kmalloc_array(COUNT, sizeof(TYPE), ...)
are replaced with:	kmalloc_objs(TYPE, COUNT, ...)

Flex array allocations:	kmalloc(struct_size(PTR, FAM, COUNT), ...)

The list can be exposed during this short gap, creating a potential
race condition. This patch fixes the problem by replacing the list
head with a local free list using list_replace_init(), instead of
using the lock/unlock pattern in the loop.

<title>media: Replace file-&gt;private_data access with file_to_v4l2_fh()</title>

Accessing file-&gt;private_data manually to retrieve the v4l2_fh pointer is
error-prone, as the field is a void * and will happily cast implicitly
to any pointer type.

Replace all remaining locations that read the v4l2_fh pointer directly
from file-&gt;private_data with usage of the file_to_v4l2_fh() function.
The change was generated manually.

No functional change is intended, this only paves the way to remove
direct accesses to file-&gt;private_data and make V4L2 drivers safer.
Other accesses to the field will be addressed separately.
