If drm can't find proc it should fail more gracefully, than just
oopsing, this tests drm_class is NULL, and sets it to NULL in the
fail paths.

and nobody tries to return anything wider than 16bit anyway.

As detect will use hw registers and may modify structures, it needs to be
serialised by use of the dev-&gt;mode_config.mutex. Make it so.

Otherwise, we may cause random crashes as the sysfs file is queried
whilst a concurrent hotplug poll is being run. For example:

Destructive load-detection is very expensive and due to failings
elsewhere can trigger system wide stalls of up to 600ms. A simple
first step to correcting this is not to invoke such an expensive
and destructive load-detection operation automatically.
