Open vSwitch stores generated flow actions as nlattrs, whose nla_len
field is u16. Commit a1e64addf3ff ("net: openvswitch: remove
misbehaving actions length check") allowed the total sw_flow_actions
stream to grow beyond 64 KiB, which is valid, but also removed the last
guard preventing a generated nested action attribute from exceeding
U16_MAX.

An oversized generated container can thus be closed with a truncated
nla_len. A later dump or teardown then walks a structurally different
stream than the one that was validated. In particular, an oversized
nested CLONE/CT action may cause subsequent bytes in the generated
stream to be interpreted as independent actions.

Keep the larger total-action-stream behavior, but make nested action
close reject generated containers that do not fit in nla_len, and return
the error through all callers. For recursive SAMPLE, CLONE, DEC_TTL, and
CHECK_PKT_LEN builders, trim resource-owning action-list tails in reverse
construction order before discarding failed wrappers, so resources copied
into the rejected tails are released before the wrappers are removed.

Most failed outer wrappers are discarded by truncating actions_len after
child resources have been released. CHECK_PKT_LEN also trims its parent
after branch resources are gone. SET/TUNNEL close failures unwind their
known tun_dst ownership directly, and SET_TO_MASKED has no external
ownership and truncates on close failure.

rcu_derefence_raw() should not have been used here, it concealed this bug.
Its used because struct rb_node lacks __rcu annotated pointers, so plain
rcu_derefence causes sparse warnings.

The major tradeoff is that rcu_derefence_raw() doesn't warn when the caller
isn't in a rcu read section.

Extend the rcu read lock scope accordingly and cause sparse warnings,
those warnings are the lesser evil.

After the patch in the "Fixes" tag, the allocation of the "reply" skb
can happen either before or after locking the ovs_mutex.

However, error cleanups still follow the classical reversed order,
assuming "reply" is allocated before locking: it is freed after unlocking.

If "reply" allocation happens after locking the mutex and it fails,
"reply" is left with an ERR_PTR, and execution jumps to the correspondent
cleanup stage which will try to free an invalid pointer.

Fix this by setting the pointer to NULL after having saved its error
value.

The vport netlink reply helpers allocate a fixed-size skb with
nlmsg_new(NLMSG_DEFAULT_SIZE, ...) but serialize the full upcall PID
array via ovs_vport_get_upcall_portids().  Since
ovs_vport_set_upcall_portids() accepts any non-zero multiple of
sizeof(u32) with no upper bound, a CAP_NET_ADMIN user can install a PID
array large enough to overflow the reply buffer, causing nla_put() to
fail with -EMSGSIZE and hitting BUG_ON(err &lt; 0).  On systems with
unprivileged user namespaces enabled (e.g., Ubuntu default), this is
reachable via unshare -Urn since OVS vport mutation operations use
GENL_UNS_ADMIN_PERM.

vports are used concurrently and protected by RCU, so netdev_put()
must happen after the RCU grace period.  So, either in an RCU call or
after the synchronize_net().  The rtnl_delete_link() must happen under
RTNL and so can't be executed in RCU context.  Calling synchronize_net()
while holding RTNL is not a good idea for performance and system
stability under load in general, so calling netdev_put() in RCU call
is the right solution here.

However,
when the device is deleted, rtnl_unlock() will call netdev_run_todo()
and block until all the references are gone.  In the current code this
means that we never reach the call_rcu() and the vport is never freed
and the reference is never released, causing a self-deadlock on device
removal.

Fix that by moving the rcu_call() before the rtnl_unlock(), so the
scheduled RCU callback will be executed when synchronize_net() is
called from the rtnl_unlock()-&gt;netdev_run_todo() while the RTNL itself
is already released.

validate_set() accepted OVS_KEY_ATTR_MPLS as variable-sized payload for
SET/SET_MASKED actions. In action handling, OVS expects fixed-size
MPLS key data (struct ovs_key_mpls).

Use the already normalized key_len (masked case included) and reject
non-matching MPLS action key sizes.

Reject invalid MPLS action payload lengths early.

ovs_netdev_tunnel_destroy() may run after NETDEV_UNREGISTER already
detached the device. Dropping the netdev reference in destroy can race
with concurrent readers that still observe vport-&gt;dev.

Do not release vport-&gt;dev in ovs_netdev_tunnel_destroy(). Instead, let
vport_netdev_free() drop the reference from the RCU callback, matching
the non-tunnel destroy path and avoiding additional synchronization
under RTNL.

The patch cited in the Fixes tag below changed the teardown code for
OVS ports to no longer unconditionally take the RTNL. After this change,
the netdev_destroy() callback can proceed immediately to the call_rcu()
invocation if the IFF_OVS_DATAPATH flag is already cleared on the
netdev.

The ovs_netdev_detach_dev() function clears the flag before completing
the unregistration, and if it gets preempted after clearing the flag (as
can happen on an -rt kernel), netdev_destroy() can complete and the
device can be freed before the unregistration completes. This leads to a
splat like:

In ovs_vport_get_upcall_stats(), some statistics protected by
u64_stats_sync, are read and accumulated in ignorance of possible
u64_stats_fetch_retry() events. These statistics are already accumulated
by u64_stats_inc(). Fix this by reading them into temporary variables
first.

The openvswitch teardown code will immediately call
ovs_netdev_detach_dev() in response to a NETDEV_UNREGISTER notification.
It will then start the dp_notify_work workqueue, which will later end up
calling the vport destroy() callback. This callback takes the RTNL to do
another ovs_netdev_detach_port(), which in this case is unnecessary.
This causes extra pressure on the RTNL, in some cases leading to
"unregister_netdevice: waiting for XX to become free" warnings on
teardown.

We can straight-forwardly avoid the extra RTNL lock acquisition by
checking the device flags before taking the lock, and skip the locking
altogether if the IFF_OVS_DATAPATH flag has already been unset.
