commit 1fe4293f4b8de75824935f8d8e9a99c7fc6873da upstream.

The function_graph tracer does not show the interrupt return marker for the
leaf entry. On leaf entries, we see an unbalanced interrupt marker (the
interrupt was entered, but nevern left).

Before:
 1)               |  SyS_write() {

 1) + 23.665 us   |    }

commit cf4d418e653afc84c9c873236033e06be5d58f1c upstream.

'err' is used as a NUL-terminated string, but using strncpy() with the length
equal to the buffer size may result in lack of the termination:

kernel/trace/trace_events_hist.c: In function 'hist_err_event':
kernel/trace/trace_events_hist.c:396:3: error: 'strncpy' specified bound 256 equals destination size [-Werror=stringop-truncation]
   strncpy(err, var, MAX_FILTER_STR_VAL);

This changes it to use the safer strscpy() instead.

<title>tracing: Check for no filter when processing event filters</title>

commit 70303420b5721c38998cf987e6b7d30cc62d4ff1 upstream.

The syzkaller detected a out-of-bounds issue with the events filter code,
specifically here:

	prog[N].pred = NULL;					/* #13 */
	prog[N].target = 1;		/* TRUE */
	prog[N+1].pred = NULL;
	prog[N+1].target = 0;		/* FALSE */
-&gt;	prog[N-1].target = N;
	prog[N-1].when_to_branch = false;

As that's the first reference to a "N-1" index, it appears that the code got
here with N = 0, which means the filter parser found no filter to parse
(which shouldn't ever happen, but apparently it did).

Add a new error to the parsing code that will check to make sure that N is
not zero before going into this part of the code. If N = 0, then -EINVAL is
returned, and a error message is added to the filter.

The snapshot trigger currently only affects the main ring buffer, even when
it is used by the instances. This can be confusing as the snapshot trigger
is listed in the instance.

 # echo 1 &gt; snapshot : Allocates snapshot buffer, if not already allocated.

If a instance has an event trigger enabled when it is freed, it could cause
an access of free memory. Here's the case that crashes:

 # cd /sys/kernel/tracing
 # mkdir instances/foo
 # echo snapshot &gt; instances/foo/events/initcall/initcall_start/trigger
 # rmdir instances/foo

<title>tracing: Fix regex_match_front() to not over compare the test string</title>

The regex match function regex_match_front() in the tracing filter logic,
was fixed to test just the pattern length from testing the entire test
string. That is, it went from strncmp(str, r-&gt;pattern, len) to
strcmp(str, r-&gt;pattern, r-&gt;len).

The issue is that str is not guaranteed to be nul terminated, and if r-&gt;len
is greater than the length of str, it can access more memory than is
allocated.

The solution is to add a simple test if (len &lt; r-&gt;len) return 0.

Pull tracing fixes from Steven Rostedt:
 "Some of the files in the tracing directory show file mode 0444 when
  they are writable by root. To fix the confusion, they should be 0644.
  Note, either case root can still write to them.

  Zhengyuan asked why I never applied that patch (the first one is from
  2014!). I simply forgot about it. /me lowers head in shame"

It looks weird that the stack_trace_filter file can be written by root
but shows that it does not have write permission by ll command.

The set_graph_function and set_graph_notrace file mode should be 0644
instead of 0444 as they are writeable. Note, the mode appears to be ignored
regardless, but they should at least look sane.
