commit f418d68d71fd4a0a9cef92377bc8c4c3334b5b53 upstream.

eprobe_dyn_event_match() checks if the target event system in argv[0]
matches ep->event_system using strncmp(ep->event_system, argv[0], len).
However, if ep->event_system is longer than len (e.g. "eprobes" vs
"ep/event"), strncmp() still returns 0 because the first len characters
match.

Check that ep->event_system[len] is '\0' to ensure exact system name
matching.

tracing: eprobe: read the complete FILTER_PTR_STRING pointer

[ Upstream commit 206b25c09080cc20fd4c2bea12d59df4b7ba2121 ]

For a char * element in an event, the FILTER_PTR_STRING filter type is
used. When the event occurs, a pointer is stored in the ringbuffer.

If an eprobe references such a char * element of a "base event", the
stored pointer is truncated when it's read from the ringbuffer.

$ cd /sys/kernel/tracing
$ echo 'e rcu.rcu_utilization $s:x64 $s:string' > dynamic_events
$ echo 1 > tracing_on
$ echo 1 > events/eprobes/enable
$ sleep 1
$ echo 0 > events/eprobes/enable
$ cat trace
   <idle>-0  ...: (rcu.rcu_utilization) arg1=0x4f arg2=(fault)
   <idle>-0  ...: (rcu.rcu_utilization) arg1=0x2 arg2=(fault)

The problem is in get_event_field

	val = (unsigned long)(*(char *)addr);

addr points to the position in the ringbuffer where the pointer was
stored. The assignment reads only the lowest byte of the pointer.

Fix the cast to read the whole pointer. The output of the test above
is now

<idle>-0 ... arg1=0xffffffff81c7d3f3 arg2="Start scheduler-tick"
<idle>-0 ... arg1=0xffffffff81c57340 arg2="End scheduler-tick"

[ Upstream commit cf0a624dc706c306294c14e6b3e7694702f25191 ]

The enable_trace_eprobe() function enables all event probes, attached
to given trace probe. If an error occurs in enabling one of the event
probes, all others should be roll backed. There is a bug in that roll
back logic - instead of all event probes, only the failed one is
disabled.

commit d5f30a7da8ea8e6450250275cec5670cee3c4264 upstream.

The flag that tells the event to call its triggers after reading the event
is set for eprobes after the eprobe is enabled. This leads to a race where
the eprobe may be triggered at the beginning of the event where the record
information is NULL. The eprobe then dereferences the NULL record causing
a NULL kernel pointer bug.

Test for a NULL record to keep this from happening.

Since the eprobe filter was defined based on the eprobe's trace event
itself, it doesn't work correctly. Use the original trace event of
the eprobe when making the filter so that the filter works correctly.

Without this fix:

# echo 'e syscalls/sys_enter_openat \
	flags_rename=$flags:u32 if flags < 1000' >> dynamic_events
# echo 1 > events/eprobes/sys_enter_openat/enable
[ 114.551550] event trace: Could not enable event sys_enter_openat
-bash: echo: write error: Invalid argument

With this fix:
# echo 'e syscalls/sys_enter_openat \
	flags_rename=$flags:u32 if flags < 1000' >> dynamic_events
# echo 1 > events/eprobes/sys_enter_openat/enable

Since the eprobe filter was defined based on the eprobe's trace event
itself, it doesn't work correctly. Use the original trace event of
the eprobe when making the filter so that the filter works correctly.

Without this fix:

# echo 'e syscalls/sys_enter_openat \
	flags_rename=$flags:u32 if flags < 1000' >> dynamic_events
# echo 1 > events/eprobes/sys_enter_openat/enable

With this fix:

# echo 1 > events/eprobes/sys_enter_openat/enable

The filter pointer (filterp) passed to create_filter() function must be a
pointer that references a NULL pointer, otherwise, we get a warning when
adding a filter option to the event probe:

        runtime=$runtime:u32 if cpu < 4' >> dynamic_events

The filter string doesn't get freed when a dynamic event is deleted. If a
filter is set, then memory is leaked:

root@localhost:/sys/kernel/tracing# echo 'e:egroup/stat_runtime_4core \
        sched/sched_stat_runtime runtime=$runtime:u32 if cpu < 4' >> dynamic_events

Additionally, in __trace_eprobe_create() function, if an error occurs after
the call to trace_eprobe_parse_filter(), which allocates the filter string,
then memory is also leaked. That can be reproduced by creating the same
event probe twice:

root@localhost:/sys/kernel/tracing# echo 'e:egroup/stat_runtime_4core \
        sched/sched_stat_runtime runtime=$runtime:u32 if cpu < 4' >> dynamic_events

Fix both issues by releasing the filter string in
trace_event_probe_cleanup().

Additionally, in __trace_eprobe_create() function, if an error occurs after
the call to trace_eprobe_parse_filter(), which allocates the filter string,
then memory is also leaked. That can be reproduced by creating the same
event probe twice:

root@localhost:/sys/kernel/tracing# echo 'e:egroup/stat_runtime_4core \
        sched/sched_stat_runtime runtime=$runtime:u32 if cpu < 4' >> dynamic_events
root@localhost:/sys/kernel/tracing# echo 'e:egroup/stat_runtime_4core \
        sched/sched_stat_runtime runtime=$runtime:u32 if cpu < 4' >> dynamic_events
-bash: echo: write error: File exists
root@localhost:/sys/kernel/tracing# echo scan > /sys/kernel/debug/kmemleak
[ 207.871584] kmemleak: 1 new suspected memory leaks (see /sys/kernel/debug/kmemleak)
root@localhost:/sys/kernel/tracing# cat /sys/kernel/debug/kmemleak

Fix both issues by releasing the filter string in
trace_event_probe_cleanup().
