commit a6f0643e4f63cfaa0d5d4a69de4f132eac4b8fe4 upstream.

When CONFIG_BPF_LSM=y is set, BPF inode storage maps
(BPF_MAP_TYPE_INODE_STORAGE) are compiled into the kernel. However,
if the BPF LSM is not explicitly enabled at boot time (e.g. omitted
from the "lsm=" boot parameter), lsm_prepare() is never executed for
the BPF LSM.

Consequently, the BPF inode security blob offset
(bpf_lsm_blob_sizes.lbs_inode) is never initialized and remains at
its default compiled size of 8 bytes instead of being updated to a
valid offset past the reserved struct rcu_head (typically 16 bytes
or more).

When a privileged user creates and updates a BPF_MAP_TYPE_INODE_STORAGE
map, bpf_inode() evaluates inode-&gt;i_security + 8. This erroneously
aliases the struct rcu_head.func callback pointer at the beginning
of the inode-&gt;i_security blob. During subsequent map element cleanup
or inode destruction, writing NULL to owner_storage clears the queued
RCU callback pointer. When rcu_do_batch() later executes the queued
callback, it attempts an instruction fetch at address 0x0, triggering
an immediate kernel panic.

Fix this by introducing a global bpf_lsm_initialized boolean flag
marked with __ro_after_init. Set this flag to true inside bpf_lsm_init()
when the LSM framework successfully registers the BPF LSM. Gate map
allocation in inode_storage_map_alloc() on this flag, returning
-EOPNOTSUPP if the BPF LSM is in turn uninitialized.

This fail-fast approach prevents userspace from allocating inode
storage maps when the supporting BPF LSM infrastructure is absent,
avoiding zombie map states.

Remove the check that rejects sleepable BPF programs from doing
BPF_ANY/BPF_EXIST updates on local storage. This restriction was added
in commit b00fa38a9c1c ("bpf: Enable non-atomic allocations in local
storage") because kzalloc(GFP_KERNEL) could sleep inside
local_storage-&gt;lock. This is no longer a concern: all local storage
allocations now use kmalloc_nolock() which never sleeps.

In addition, since kmalloc_nolock() only accepts __GFP_ACCOUNT,
__GFP_ZERO and __GFP_NO_OBJ_EXT, the gfp_flags parameter plumbing from
bpf_*_storage_get() to bpf_local_storage_update() becomes dead code.
Remove gfp_flags from bpf_selem_alloc(), bpf_local_storage_alloc() and
bpf_local_storage_update(). Drop the hidden 5th argument from
bpf_*_storage_get helpers, and remove the verifier patching that
injected GFP_KERNEL/GFP_ATOMIC into the fifth argument.

Switch to kmalloc_nolock() universally in local storage. Socket local
storage didn't move to kmalloc_nolock() when BPF memory allocator was
replaced by it for performance reasons. Now that kfree_rcu() supports
freeing memory allocated by kmalloc_nolock(), we can move the remaining
local storages to use kmalloc_nolock() and cleanup the cluttered free
paths.

Use kfree() instead of kfree_nolock() in bpf_selem_free_trace_rcu() and
bpf_local_storage_free_trace_rcu(). Both callbacks run in process context
where spinning is allowed, so kfree_nolock() is unnecessary.

Benchmark:

./bench -p 1 local-storage-create --storage-type socket \
  --batch-size {16,32,64}

The benchmark is a microbenchmark stress-testing how fast local storage
can be created. There is no measurable throughput change for socket local
storage after switching from kzalloc() to kmalloc_nolock().

Socket local storage

                 batch creation speed diff
--------------- ---- ------------------ ----

                  64 434.2 ± 0.7 k/s

After 16 439.0 ± 1.9 k/s +1.2%
                  32 437.3 ± 2.0 k/s +0.7%
                  64 435.8 ± 2.5k/s +0.4%

Also worth noting that the baseline got a 5% throughput boost when sheaf
replaces percpu partial slab recently [0].

Take care of rqspinlock error in bpf_local_storage_{map_free, destroy}()
properly by switching to bpf_selem_unlink_nofail().

Both functions iterate their own RCU-protected list of selems and call
bpf_selem_unlink_nofail(). In map_free(), to prevent infinite loop when
both map_free() and destroy() fail to remove a selem from b-&gt;list
(extremely unlikely), switch to hlist_for_each_entry_rcu(). In destroy(),
also switch to hlist_for_each_entry_rcu() since we no longer iterate
local_storage-&gt;list under local_storage-&gt;lock.

bpf_selem_unlink() now becomes dedicated to helpers and syscalls paths
so reuse_now should always be false. Remove it from the argument and
hardcode it.

To prepare changing both bpf_local_storage_map_bucket::lock and
bpf_local_storage::lock to rqspinlock, convert bpf_selem_unlink() to
failable. It still always succeeds and returns 0 until the change
happens. No functional change.

Open code bpf_selem_unlink_storage() in the only caller,
bpf_selem_unlink(), since unlink_map and unlink_storage must be done
together after all the necessary locks are acquired.

For bpf_local_storage_map_free(), ignore the return from
bpf_selem_unlink() for now. A later patch will allow it to unlink selems
even when failing to acquire locks.

When destroying inode storage, it invokes bpf_local_storage_destroy() to
remove all storage elements saved in the inode storage. The destroy
procedure will call bpf_selem_free() to free the element, and
bpf_selem_free() calls bpf_obj_free_fields() to free the special fields
in map value (e.g., kptr). Since kptrs may be allocated from bpf memory
allocator, migrate_{disable|enable} pairs are necessary for the freeing
of these kptrs.

To simplify reasoning about when migrate_disable() is needed for the
freeing of these dynamically-allocated kptrs, let the caller to
guarantee migration is disabled before invoking bpf_obj_free_fields().
Therefore, the patch adds migrate_{disable|enable} pair in
bpf_inode_storage_free(). The migrate_{disable|enable} pairs in the
underlying implementation of bpf_obj_free_fields() will be removed by
the following patch.

<title>bpf: Add "bool swap_uptrs" arg to bpf_local_storage_update() and bpf_selem_alloc()</title>

In a later patch, the task local storage will only accept uptr
from the syscall update_elem and will not accept uptr from
the bpf prog. The reason is the bpf prog does not have a way
to provide a valid user space address.

bpf_local_storage_update() and bpf_selem_alloc() are used by
both bpf prog bpf_task_storage_get(BPF_LOCAL_STORAGE_GET_F_CREATE)
and bpf syscall update_elem. "bool swap_uptrs" arg is added
to bpf_local_storage_update() and bpf_selem_alloc() to tell if
it is called by the bpf prog or by the bpf syscall. When
swap_uptrs==true, it is called by the syscall.

The arg is named (swap_)uptrs because the later patch will swap
the uptrs between the newly allocated selem and the user space
provided map_value. It will make error handling easier in case
map-&gt;ops-&gt;map_update_elem() fails and the caller can decide
if it needs to unpin the uptr in the user space provided
map_value or the bpf_local_storage_update() has already
taken the uptr ownership and will take care of unpinning it also.

Only swap_uptrs==false is passed now. The logic to handle
the true case will be added in a later patch.
