commit 30c2df3005c99819e117402dc492db4a2a696c2f upstream.

nfsd_file_lru_add() unconditionally increments nf_ref before attempting
to insert the nfsd_file into the LRU via list_lru_add_obj(). If the
insertion fails (the item is already linked), the incremented reference
is never released, permanently inflating the refcount.

The LRU shrinker callback (nfsd_file_lru_cb) uses refcount_dec_if_one()
to reclaim entries, which requires nf_ref == 1. An inflated refcount
therefore blocks eviction of the affected file cache entry for the
lifetime of the nfsd instance.

While this failure path is currently unreachable -- the sole caller in
nfsd_file_do_acquire() operates on freshly-allocated objects that cannot
already be on the LRU -- it represents a latent bug that would become
exploitable if a future change adds another call site or alters the
PENDING protocol.

Fix this by:
 - Adding a compensating refcount_dec() on the failure path. Bare
refcount_dec (rather than nfsd_file_put) is correct here because
the caller in nfsd_file_do_acquire still holds its own construction
reference, so the count goes from 2 back to 1 without risk of
   reaching zero.
 - Changing WARN_ON(1) to WARN_ON_ONCE(1) to prevent log flooding if
this path is ever hit repeatedly.
 - Returning early on failure to skip the unnecessary call to
nfsd_file_schedule_laundrette(), since no entry was added to the LRU.

<title>nfsd: guard nfsd_serv deref in nfsd_file_net_dispose</title>

commit 9f1ddfc8cb9076592401a611eb3a44d36186d014 upstream.

nfsd_file_net_dispose() is the consumer side of l-&gt;freeme: the nfsd
service thread loop calls it to drain entries that the filecache
garbage collector and shrinker append via
nfsd_file_dispose_list_delayed().  During per-net teardown,
nn-&gt;nfsd_serv is cleared before the filecache laundrette is shut
down, so the service thread can still run a dispose pass that finds
more than eight entries on l-&gt;freeme and dereferences a NULL
svc_serv:

    nfsd service thread loop
      nfsd_file_net_dispose(nn)
        if (!list_empty(&amp;l-&gt;freeme)) {
            ...
            svc_wake_up(nn-&gt;nfsd_serv);   /* nn-&gt;nfsd_serv == NULL */
        }

The sibling helper nfsd_file_dispose_list_delayed() already documents
this ordering and caches nn-&gt;nfsd_serv into a local before testing it
for NULL. nfsd_file_net_dispose() was introduced with the same raw
svc_wake_up(nn-&gt;nfsd_serv) call and never picked up the guard.

Fix by loading nn-&gt;nfsd_serv into a local svc_serv pointer and only
calling svc_wake_up() when it is non-NULL, matching the pattern in
nfsd_file_dispose_list_delayed().

Pull nfsd updates from Chuck Lever:
"Mike Snitzer has prototyped a mechanism for disabling I/O caching in
NFSD. This is introduced in v6.18 as an experimental feature. This
enables scaling NFSD in /both/ directions:

   - NFS service can be supported on systems with small memory
footprints, such as low-cost cloud instances

   - Large NFS workloads will be less likely to force the eviction of
server-local activity, helping it avoid thrashing

Jeff Layton contributed a number of fixes to the new attribute
delegation implementation (based on a pending Internet RFC) that we
hope will make attribute delegation reliable enough to enable by
default, as it is on the Linux NFS client.

The remaining patches in this pull request are clean-ups and minor
optimizations. Many thanks to the contributors, reviewers, testers,
and bug reporters who participated during the v6.18 NFSD development
  cycle"

Use STATX_DIOALIGN and STATX_DIO_READ_ALIGN to get DIO alignment
attributes from the underlying filesystem and store them in the
associated nfsd_file. This is done when the nfsd_file is first

<title>fs: replace use of system_unbound_wq with system_dfl_wq</title>

Currently if a user enqueue a work item using schedule_delayed_work() the
used wq is "system_wq" (per-cpu wq) while queue_delayed_work() use
WORK_CPU_UNBOUND (used when a cpu is not specified). The same applies to
schedule_work() that is using system_wq and queue_work(), that makes use
again of WORK_CPU_UNBOUND.

This lack of consistentcy cannot be addressed without refactoring the API.

system_unbound_wq should be the default workqueue so as not to enforce
locality constraints for random work whenever it's not required.

Adding system_dfl_wq to encourage its use when unbound work should be used.

The old system_unbound_wq will be kept for a few release cycles.

Instead of calling xchg() and unrcu_pointer() before
nfsd_file_put_local(), we now pass pointer to the __rcu pointer and call
xchg() and unrcu_pointer() inside that function.

Where unrcu_pointer() is currently called the internals of "struct
nfsd_file" are not known and that causes older compilers such as gcc-8
to complain.

In some cases we have a __kernel (aka normal) pointer not an __rcu
pointer so we need to cast it to __rcu first. This is strictly a
weakening so no information is lost. Somewhat surprisingly, this cast
is accepted by gcc-8.

This has the pleasing result that the cmpxchg() which sets ro_file and
rw_file, and also the xchg() which clears them, are both now in the nfsd
code.

<title>nfs_localio: always hold nfsd net ref with nfsd_file ref</title>

Having separate nfsd_file_put and nfsd_file_put_local in struct
nfsd_localio_operations doesn't make much sense. The difference is that
nfsd_file_put doesn't drop a reference to the nfs_net which is what
keeps nfsd from shutting down.

Currently, if nfsd tries to shutdown it will invalidate the files stored
in the list from the nfs_uuid and this will drop all references to the
nfsd net that the client holds. But the client could still hold some
references to nfsd_files for active IO. So nfsd might think is has
completely shut down local IO, but hasn't and has no way to wait for
those active IO requests to complete.

So this patch changes nfsd_file_get to nfsd_file_get_local and has it
increase the ref count on the nfsd net and it replaces all calls to
-&gt;nfsd_put_file to -&gt;nfsd_put_file_local.

It also changes -&gt;nfsd_open_local_fh to return with the refcount on the
net elevated precisely when a valid nfsd_file is returned.

This means that whenever the client holds a valid nfsd_file, there will
be an associated count on the nfsd net, and so the count can only reach
zero when all nfsd_files have been returned.

nfs_local_file_put() is changed to call nfs_to_nfsd_file_put_local()
instead of replacing calls to one with calls to the other because this
will help a later patch which changes nfs_to_nfsd_file_put_local() to
take an __rcu pointer while nfs_local_file_put() doesn't.
