commit d1d73578e053b981c3611e5a211534290d24a5eb upstream.

According to the comment describing ops_lock in the definition of struct
backlight_device and when comparing with other functions in backlight.c
the mutex must be hold when checking ops to be non-NULL.

Fixes a problem added by c835ee7f4154992e6 ("backlight: Add suspend/resume
support to the backlight core") in Jan 2009.

Commit 9905a43b made struct backlight_ops const. Omap was
setting check_fb dynamically, which caused the following
compile error:

drivers/video/backlight/omap1_bl.c: In function 'omapbl_probe':
drivers/video/backlight/omap1_bl.c:142: error: assignment of read-only variable 'omapbl_ops'

Turns out pdata-&gt;check_fb is not being used, so just remove
it to fix the compile.

<title>tree-wide: convert open calls to remove spaces to skip_spaces() lib function</title>

<id>e7d2860b690d4f3bed6824757c540579638e3d1e</id>
<content type='text'>
Makes use of skip_spaces() defined in lib/string.c for removing leading
spaces from strings all over the tree.

It decreases lib.a code size by 47 bytes and reuses the function tree-wide:
text data bss dec hex filename
  64688 584 592 65864 10148 (TOTALS-BEFORE)
  64641 584 592 65817 10119 (TOTALS-AFTER)

Also, while at it, if we see (*str &amp;&amp; isspace(*str)), we can be sure to
remove the first condition (*str) as the second one (isspace(*str)) also
evaluates to 0 whenever *str == 0, making it redundant. In other words,
"a char equals zero is never a space".

Julia Lawall tried the semantic patch (http://coccinelle.lip6.fr) below,
and found occurrences of this pattern on 3 more files:
    drivers/leds/led-class.c
    drivers/leds/ledtrig-timer.c
    drivers/video/output.c
