vidioc_s_fmt_vid_out() sizes the encoder CAPTURE buffer from the
compressed descriptor pixfmt_fwht, whose sizeimage_mult is 3:
coded_w * coded_h * 3 + sizeof(struct fwht_cframe_hdr). fwht_encode_frame()
encodes one plane per component, and an incompressible plane takes the
FWHT_FRAME_UNENCODED path in encode_plane(), copying the plane verbatim.

For a 4-component pixel format all four planes are full resolution
(width_div == height_div == 1), so a frame that forces every plane
through the unencoded fallback writes
sizeof(struct fwht_cframe_hdr) + 4 * coded_w * coded_h bytes, overrunning
the plane by coded_w * coded_h, which can result in corruption
of adjacent kernel heap memory.

Bump pixfmt_fwht.sizeimage_mult from 3 to 4, matching the largest
components_num among the supported raw formats, so the capture buffer is
always large enough for the unencoded fallback.

stm32_rx_done() appends each received CEC byte to rx_msg.msg[] using
rx_msg.len as the write index, incrementing it on every RXBR
(receive-byte-ready) interrupt without checking it against the buffer
size:

	cec-&gt;rx_msg.msg[cec-&gt;rx_msg.len++] = val &amp; 0xFF;

rx_msg.msg[] is a fixed CEC_MAX_MSG_SIZE (16) byte array in struct
cec_msg, and rx_msg.len is only reset on RXACKE/RXOVR or after a
completed message (RXEND). The number of bytes received before RXEND is
decided by the remote CEC device (it sets EOM), not by the driver. A
peer that keeps sending bytes without ending the message drives RXBR
repeatedly, pushing rx_msg.len past 16 and writing peer-controlled bytes
out of bounds into the surrounding memory. This is reachable in normal
operation once the driver has probed and receiving is enabled, from the
IRQ thread, without any local privilege.

The length check in the CEC core runs on the consumer side, after the
byte has been stored, so it does not prevent the overflow. Bound the
index in the driver before the store, as the other platform CEC drivers
already do (e.g. tegra_cec), dropping the excess bytes of an overlong
frame.

Found by static analysis tool CodeQL.

This reverts commit 2a934fdb01db6458288fc9386d3d8ceba6dd551a.

The intentions of that patch were good, but it doesn't work.

The idea is that if device_register fails, you have to do a put_device
to let the ref counter release resources.

However, the V4L2 API says that if video_register_device() fails, then
you have to call video_device_release(), which kfree()s the video_device
struct.

But the put_device() will already have freed the struct, so you end
up in a double-free scenario.

There is not really a good way of fixing this without breaking
video_register_device() into two parts, one that initializes everything,
and one that does the actual device_register, and then converting all
V4L2 drivers to this new model.

That is a massive job, and it is very unlikely that device_register
will fail.

So rather than ending up in a double-free scenario, just revert this
patch, and in that case we'll have a small memory leak. Which is a lot
more robust.

Fix streaming from CSIDn RDI1 and RDI2 to VFEn RDI1 and RDI2. A pattern we
have replicated throughout CAMSS where we use the VC number to populate
both the VC fields and port fields of the CSID means that in practice only
VC = 0 on CSIDn:RDI0 to VFEn:RDI0 works.

Fix that for CSID 340 by separating VC and port. Fix to VC zero as a bugfix
we will look to properly populate the VC field with follow on patches
later.

The CSID driver has some unused variables and function parameters
that are no longer needed (due to refactoring). Clean up those
unused elements:

- Remove the `vc` parameter from `__csid_configure_rx()`.
- Drop the unused `lane_cnt` variable.
- Adjust call to `__csid_configure_rx()` accordingly.

another reference to balance the one dropped by the platform bus code
when unbinding the parent and releasing the child devices.

Fix this by using the intended helper for reusing OF nodes.

When platform_device_register() fails in vivid_init(), the embedded
struct device in vivid_pdev has already been initialized by
device_initialize(), but the failure path jumps to free_output_strings
without dropping the device reference for the current platform device:

  vivid_init()
    -&gt; platform_device_register(&amp;vivid_pdev)
       -&gt; device_initialize(&amp;vivid_pdev.dev)
       -&gt; setup_pdev_dma_masks(&amp;vivid_pdev)
       -&gt; platform_device_add(&amp;vivid_pdev)

This leads to a reference leak when platform_device_register() fails.
Fix this by calling platform_device_put() before jumping to the common
cleanup path.

Also, the unreg_driver label incorrectly calls
platform_driver_register() instead of platform_driver_unregister(),
which breaks cleanup when workqueue creation fails after successful
driver registration. Fix that as well.

When platform_device_register() fails in vivid_init(), the embedded
struct device in vivid_pdev has already been initialized by
device_initialize(), but the failure path jumps to free_output_strings
without dropping the device reference for the current platform device:

  vivid_init()
    -&gt; platform_device_register(&amp;vivid_pdev)
       -&gt; device_initialize(&amp;vivid_pdev.dev)
       -&gt; setup_pdev_dma_masks(&amp;vivid_pdev)
       -&gt; platform_device_add(&amp;vivid_pdev)

This leads to a reference leak when platform_device_register() fails.
Fix this by calling platform_device_put() before jumping to the common
cleanup path.

Also, the unreg_driver label incorrectly calls
platform_driver_register() instead of platform_driver_unregister(),
which breaks cleanup when workqueue creation fails after successful
driver registration. Fix that as well.

The vivid_update_format_cap/out() functions must only be called if the
capture/output queue are not busy. But for the controls that select
the CROP/COMPOSE/SCALE capability that is not checked.

Only when streaming starts will they be set to 'grabbed' and it is
impossible to change the control, but between REQBUFS and STREAMON you
are still allowed to set these controls. Since vivid_update_format_cap/out
will change the format, this can cause unexpected results.

Besides adding these checks, also add a WARN_ON in
vivid_update_format_cap/out() if the queue is busy.

I'm 90% certain that this is the cause of this syzbot bug:

But since we never have reproducers, it is hard to be certain. In any case,
these checks are needed regardless.

Don't call vivid_update_format_cap() when switching to/from reduced fps
for HDMI inputs: that will also reset the format, which is overkill for
this.

Make a new vivid_update_reduced_fps() function that just updates the
dev-&gt;timeperframe_vid_cap.
