[ Upstream commit 5d1a7493343cc00d9019880b686e4e0a0f649531 ]

As documented in the description of the transfer() function of
"struct drm_dp_aux", the transfer() function can be called at any time
regardless of the state of the DP port. Specifically if the kernel has
the DP AUX character device enabled and userspace accesses
"/dev/drm_dp_auxN" directly then the AUX transfer function will be
called regardless of whether a DP device is connected.

For eDP panels we have a special rule where we wait (with a 5 second
timeout) for HPD to go high. This rule was important before all panels
drivers were converted to call wait_hpd_asserted() and actually can be
removed in a future commit.

For external DP devices we never checked for HPD. That means that
trying to access the DP AUX character device (AKA `hexdump -C
/dev/drm_dp_auxN`) would very, very slowly timeout. Specifically on my
system:
  $ time hexdump -C /dev/drm_dp_aux0
  hexdump: /dev/drm_dp_aux0: Connection timed out
  real 0m8.200s
We want access to the drm_dp_auxN character device to fail faster than
8 seconds when no DP cable is plugged in.

Let's add a test to make transfers fail right away if a device isn't
plugged in. Rather than testing the HPD line directly, we have the
dp_display module tell us when AUX transfers should be enabled so we
can handle cases where HPD is signaled out of band like with Type C.

commit 0640f47b742667fca6aac174f7cd62b6c2c7532c upstream.

Make sure to put the runtime PM usage count (and suspend) also when
receiving a disconnect event while in the ST_MAINLINK_READY state.

This specifically avoids leaking a runtime PM usage count on every
disconnect with display servers that do not automatically enable
external displays when receiving a hotplug notification.

This reverts commit e467e0bde881 ("drm/msm/dp: use
drm_bridge_hpd_notify() to report HPD status changes").

The commit changed the way how the MSM DP driver communicates
HPD-related events to the userspace. The mentioned commit made some of
the HPD events being reported earlier. This way userspace starts poking
around. It interacts in a bad way with the dp_bridge_detect and the
driver's state machine, ending up either with the very long delays
during hotplug detection or even inability of the DP driver to report
the display as connected.

A proper fix will involve redesigning of the HPD handling in the MSM DP
driver. It is underway, but it will be intrusive and can not be thought
about as a simple fix for the issue. Thus, revert the offending commit.

MSA MISC0 bit 1 to 7 contains Colorimetry Indicator Field.
dp_link_get_colorimetry_config() returns wrong colorimetry value
in the DP_TEST_DYNAMIC_RANGE_CEA case in the current implementation.
Hence fix this problem by having dp_link_get_colorimetry_config()
return defined CEA RGB colorimetry value in the case of
DP_TEST_DYNAMIC_RANGE_CEA.

Changes in V2:
-- drop retrieving colorimetry from colorspace
-- drop dr = link->dp_link.test_video.test_dyn_range assignment

Changes in V3:
-- move defined MISCr0a Colorimetry vale to dp_reg.h
-- rewording commit title

Since the value of DP_TEST_BIT_DEPTH_8 is already left shifted, in the
BPC unknown case, the additional shift causes spill over to the other
bits of the [DP_CONFIGURATION_CTRL] register.
Fix this by changing the return value of dp_link_get_test_bits_depth()

The funcion dp_display_get_next_bridge() can return -EPROBE_DEFER if the
next bridge is not (yet) available. However returning -EPROBE_DEFER from
msm_dp_modeset_init() is not ideal. This leads to -EPROBE return from
component_bind, which can easily result in -EPROBE_DEFR loops.

The platform_get_irq() function returns negative error codes. It never
returns zero. Fix the check accordingly.
