commit 519ddf194b158b91439319f6b977b8a465fda0fb upstream.

All the callers of mhi_ep_handle_syserr() except mhi_ep_process_cmd_ring()
are holding the 'state_lock' to avoid the race in setting the MHI state. So
do the same in mhi_ep_process_cmd_ring() for sanity.

<title>bus: mhi: ep: Fix potential deadlock in mhi_ep_reset_worker()</title>

[ Upstream commit 9dece4435d396e9877e27483552b910ba8654169 ]

There is a potential deadlock scenario in mhi_ep_reset_worker() where
the state_lock mutex is acquired twice in the same call chain:

mhi_ep_reset_worker()
  mutex_lock(&amp;mhi_cntrl-&gt;state_lock)
    mhi_ep_power_up()
      mhi_ep_set_ready_state()
        mutex_lock(&amp;mhi_cntrl-&gt;state_lock)  &lt;- Deadlock

Fix this by releasing the state_lock before calling mhi_ep_power_up().
The lock is only needed to protect current MHI state read operation. The
lock can be safely released before proceeding with the power up sequence.

While the commit fixed fw_devlink overlay handling for one case, it
broke it for another case. So revert it and redo the fix in a separate

[ Upstream commit 2b38efc05bf7a8568ec74bfffea0f5cfa62bc01d ]

When a driver is probed through __driver_attach(), the bus' match()
callback is called without the device lock held, thus accessing the
driver_override field without a lock, which can cause a UAF.

Fix this by using the driver-core driver_override infrastructure taking
care of proper locking internally.

Note that calling match() from __driver_attach() without the device lock
held is intentional. [1]

commit f72e77c33e4b5657af35125e75bab249256030f3 upstream.

In various places in the kernel, we modify the fwnode "flags" member
by doing either:
  fwnode-&gt;flags |= SOME_FLAG;
  fwnode-&gt;flags &amp;= ~SOME_FLAG;

This type of modification is not thread-safe. If two threads are both
mucking with the flags at the same time then one can clobber the
other.

While flags are often modified while under the "fwnode_link_lock",
this is not universally true.

Create some accessor functions for setting, clearing, and testing the
FWNODE flags and move all users to these accessor functions. New
accessor functions use set_bit() and clear_bit(), which are
thread-safe.

[ Upstream commit 854f89a5b56354ba4135e0e1f0e57ab2caee59ee ]

The .remove() callback for a platform driver returns an int which makes
many driver authors wrongly assume it's possible to do error handling by
returning an error code. However the value returned is ignored (apart
from emitting a warning) and this typically results in resource leaks.

To improve here there is a quest to make the remove callback return
void. In the first step of this quest all drivers are converted to
.remove_new(), which already returns void. Eventually after all drivers
are converted, .remove_new() will be renamed to .remove().

Trivially convert this driver from always returning zero in the remove
callback to the void returning variant.

In fsl_mc_device_add(), device_initialize() is called first.
put_device() should be called to drop the reference if error
occurs. And other resources would be released via put_device
-&gt; fsl_mc_device_release. So remove redundant kfree() in
error handling path.

<title>bus: fsl-mc: fix use-after-free in driver_override_show()</title>

[ Upstream commit 148891e95014b5dc5878acefa57f1940c281c431 ]

The driver_override_show() function reads the driver_override string
without holding the device_lock. However, driver_override_store() uses
driver_set_override(), which modifies and frees the string while holding
the device_lock.

This can result in a concurrent use-after-free if the string is freed
by the store function while being read by the show function.

Fix this by holding the device_lock around the read operation.
