After a recent LLVM change [1] that deduces __cold on functions that only call
cold code (such as __init functions), there is a section mismatch warning from
__get_mem_config_intel(), which got moved to .text.unlikely. as a result of
that optimization:

  WARNING: modpost: vmlinux: section mismatch in reference: \
  __get_mem_config_intel+0x77 (section: .text.unlikely.) -&gt; thread_throttle_mode_init (section: .init.text)

Mark __get_mem_config_intel() as __init as well since it is only called
from __init code, which clears up the warning.

While __rdt_get_mem_config_amd() does not exhibit a warning because it
does not call any __init code, it is a similar function that is only
called from __init code like __get_mem_config_intel(), so mark it __init
as well to keep the code symmetrical.

CONFIG_SECTION_MISMATCH_WARN_ONLY=n would turn this into a fatal error.

domain_add_cpu() is called whenever a CPU is brought online. The
earlier call to domain_setup_ctrlval() allocates the control value
arrays.

If domain_setup_mon_state() fails, the control value arrays are not
freed.

Add the missing kfree() calls.

Memory bandwidth is calculated reading the monitoring counter
at two intervals and calculating the delta. It is the software’s
responsibility to read the count often enough to avoid having
the count roll over _twice_ between reads.

The current code hardcodes the bandwidth monitoring counter's width
to 24 bits for AMD. This is due to default base counter width which
is 24. Currently, AMD does not implement the CPUID 0xF.[ECX=1]:EAX
to adjust the counter width. But, the AMD hardware supports much
wider bandwidth counter with the default width of 44 bits.

Kernel reads these monitoring counters every 1 second and adjusts the
counter value for overflow. With 24 bits and scale value of 64 for AMD,
it can only measure up to 1GB/s without overflowing. For the rates
above 1GB/s this will fail to measure the bandwidth.

Fix the issue setting the default width to 44 bits by adjusting the
offset.

AMD future products will implement CPUID 0xF.[ECX=1]:EAX.

Resctrl assumes that all CPUs are online when the filesystem is mounted,
and that CPUs remember their CDP-enabled state over CPU hotplug.

This goes wrong when resctrl's CDP-enabled state changes while all the
CPUs in a domain are offline.

When a domain comes online, enable (or disable!) CDP to match resctrl's
current setting.

A system that supports resource monitoring may have multiple resources
while not all of these resources are capable of monitoring. Monitoring
related state is initialized only for resources that are capable of
monitoring and correspondingly this state should subsequently only be
removed from these resources that are capable of monitoring.

domain_add_cpu() calls domain_setup_mon_state() only when r-&gt;mon_capable
is true where it will initialize d-&gt;mbm_over. However,
domain_remove_cpu() calls cancel_delayed_work(&amp;d-&gt;mbm_over) without
checking r-&gt;mon_capable resulting in an attempt to cancel d-&gt;mbm_over on
all resources, even those that never initialized d-&gt;mbm_over because
they are not capable of monitoring. Hence, it triggers a debugobjects
warning when offlining CPUs because those timer debugobjects are never
initialized:

rdt_find_domain() returns an ERR_PTR() that is generated from a provided
domain id when the value is negative.

Care needs to be taken when creating an ERR_PTR() from this value
because a subsequent check using IS_ERR() expects the error to
be within the MAX_ERRNO range. Using an invalid domain id as an
ERR_PTR() does work at this time since this is currently always -1.
Using this undocumented assumption is fragile since future users of
rdt_find_domain() may not be aware of thus assumption.

Two related issues are addressed:

- Ensure that rdt_find_domain() always returns a valid error value by
forcing the error to be -ENODEV when a negative domain id is provided.

- In a few instances the return value of rdt_find_domain() is just
checked for NULL - fix these to include a check of ERR_PTR.

rdt_find_domain() returns an ERR_PTR() that is generated from a provided
domain id when the value is negative.

Care needs to be taken when creating an ERR_PTR() from this value
because a subsequent check using IS_ERR() expects the error to
be within the MAX_ERRNO range. Using an invalid domain id as an
ERR_PTR() does work at this time since this is currently always -1.
Using this undocumented assumption is fragile since future users of
rdt_find_domain() may not be aware of thus assumption.

Two related issues are addressed:

- Ensure that rdt_find_domain() always returns a valid error value by
forcing the error to be -ENODEV when a negative domain id is provided.

- In a few instances the return value of rdt_find_domain() is just
checked for NULL - fix these to include a check of ERR_PTR.

Enable QOS feature on AMD.

Following QoS sub-features are supported on AMD if the underlying
hardware supports it:

 - L3 Cache allocation enforcement
 - L3 Cache occupancy monitoring
 - L3 Code-Data Prioritization support
 - Memory Bandwidth Enforcement (Allocation)

There are differences in the way some of the features are implemented.
Separate those functions and add those as vendor specific functions.

The major difference is in MBA feature:

 - AMD uses CPUID leaf 0x80000020 to initialize the MBA features.
 - AMD uses direct bandwidth value instead of delay based on bandwidth values.
 - MSR register base addresses are different for MBA.
 - AMD allows non-contiguous L3 cache bit masks.

<title>x86/resctrl: Bring cbm_validate() into the resource structure</title>

Bring all the functions that are different between the vendors into the
resource structure and initialize them dynamically. Add _intel suffix to
the Intel-specific functions.

cbm_validate() which does cache bitmask validation, differs between the
vendors as AMD allows non-contiguous masks. So, use separate functions
for Intel and AMD.

Initialize the resource functions that are different between the
vendors. Some features are initialized differently between the vendors.
Add _intel suffix to Intel-specific functions.

For example, the MBA feature varies significantly between Intel and AMD.
Separate the initialization of these resource functions. That way we can
easily add AMD's functions later.
